With the arrival of a heatwave, if anybody is in need of some quick and important tips to help:
Keep your pup safe and comfortable in this heat;
Keep your home as cool as possible;
And support a pregnant person to stay cool, please see below!

KEEPING YOUR DOG COOL:
• Walk early morning or later evening
• Always carry fresh water, and keep water bowls topped up at home
• Avoid hot pavements (if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws!)
• Use shaded routes and/or streams and rivers where possible
• Frozen treats and cooling mats can help massively
• Never leave dogs in cars, not even for a few minutes

KEEPING YOUR HOME COOL:
• Keep curtains/blinds closed during peak sun
• Open windows early morning and late evening
• Avoid using ovens/appliances where possible
• Fans + bowls of ice can help cool rooms down
• Lightweight bedding and loose clothing make a huge difference

KEEPING COOL AS A PREGNANT PERSON:
• Drink more water than you think you need
• Stay in the shade where possible
• Wear loose, breathable clothing
• Rest when your body tells you to
• Keep snacks nearby to avoid feeling faint
• Cool showers, fans and cold flannels are lifesavers
• Avoid being out during the hottest part of the day

After the non-stop rain from early 2026, I am so happy to see some sunshine however I sometimes need to remind myself to be safe in the sun, hopefully these little tips will help someone else too ☀️🕶️🐕🏡🤰🏼

Happy Bank Holiday & Half Term everyone! ☀️

Just a little note to please bear with me during the heat wave. Being pregnant whilst cleaning and dog walking in these temperatures has definitely reminded me that I need to take my health a little more seriously than I normally would!

My biggest priority during the heat is keeping both myself and the dogs I walk, safe. If temperatures rise above 22°C and walks need to be cancelled, I’ll still be offering my pet check-in service so your pups can have a midday toilet break, fresh water, plenty of fuss and company from me 🐾

I also want to say a huge thank you to all of my lovely clients for being so understanding, supportive and accommodating during my pregnancy, it genuinely means so much. And apologies to anyone whose cleans have had to be postponed or rearranged because honestly… surviving in this heat is hard enough, never mind cleaning in it 😅

I hope everyone has a lovely half term and stays safe in the sunshine! ☀️

🐾🌼 Spring hazards for dogs – What to watch out for this Easter 🌼🐾

Easter and spring bring longer days, fresh blooms, and more time out on Dartmoor… but they also bring a few seasonal dangers for our furry companions.

Here's a quick guide to help keep your pups safe this season:

🍫 Chocolate (and Easter treats!)
Even small amounts of chocolate can be highly toxic to dogs. Please keep all Easter eggs, hot cross buns, and sweet treats well out of reach.

🌱 Wild garlic
Though it smells lovely, wild garlic (like onions and leeks) is toxic to dogs and can cause gastrointestinal upset. Keep an eye out while walking near hedgerows and on the moor!

🌼 Spring plants to avoid
These common spring flowers can be harmful to dogs if ingested:
Buttercups
Daffodils
Tulips
Bluebells
Hyacinths
Primroses

🚨 What to look for... Here's some signs that your dog might have eaten something toxic:
Vomiting or diarrhoea
Excessive drooling
Lethargy or weakness
Loss of appetite
Shaking or unusual behaviour

🐶 If you suspect your dog has ingested something harmful, contact your vet immediately. Don’t wait – early treatment can save lives.

💛 As someone who walks dogs daily across Dartmoor, I’m always aware of seasonal risks and keep every pup I care for safe, happy, and protected.

✨ ONE YEAR OF PUPS POLISH AND MOOR ✨

Yesterday my little business turned ONE 🥹

One whole year of early mornings, long days, muddy paws, sparkling kitchens, endless hoover lines and a LOT of hard work. I truly have been a very busy girl and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I just want to say the biggest thank you to every single person who has trusted me with their homes and their animals this past year. Your support genuinely means the world 🤍

If you’ve noticed I’ve been a little quiet on social media… it’s simply because every working minute is currently filled with jobs. Which is something I’m incredibly grateful for!

If you’re waiting to hear back from me regarding cleaning enquiries, please do bear with me. I’m working behind the scenes to expand and potentially subcontract some work so I can accommodate more of you without compromising the standard I’m known for.

Thank you for your patience, your loyalty and for keeping me so busy this first year. Here’s to growing, glowing and continuing to build something really special 🌿🐾✨

✨ We’re Hiring - Self-Employed Cleaner ✨
📍 Tavistock & surrounding areas

As my little business continues to grow, I’m looking for a lovely, reliable self-employed cleaner to take on regular subcontracted work.

🧽 15-20 hours per week (with flexibility)

I’m looking for someone who has a strong work ethic, takes real pride in their work, is eager to learn, and can confidently work independently within a set timeframe. Reliability, punctuality and professionalism in clients’ homes are so important to me.

You’ll need a full UK driving licence, your own vehicle and valid public liability insurance.

Cleaning experience is preferred, but a genuine passion for high standards matters just as much.

I’ll carry out a trial clean with suitable candidates so we can make sure it’s the right fit for both of us 🤍

If this sounds like you (or someone you know), please pop me a message or send me an email on: [email protected]

I’d be so grateful for any shares ✨

Cold weather makes us all worry about Dartmoor’s ponies, but please do not feed them.

They are hardy and built to survive all weathers, but feeding them can be dangerous: apples, carrots, and other foods can choke them or upset their digestion. Ponies need a diet they are used to – the natural vegetation of the moors. Many are already fed by farmers, so extra food isn’t needed.

If you see a pony you’re worried about, contact the Dartmoor Livestock Protection Society on 07873 587561.

We made it to the end of the year! The last couple of weeks have been super soggy with dog walks and I’ve been back to back with cleaning. But of course I’m very grateful to be as busy as I am.

As most people know I have just completed on my house which means I am currently moving house and continuing to work each day 😬. With moving house means that I will be without internet broadband from 19th - 30th December. Please use this opportunity to text or call me the old fashioned way - 07513415119.

I am working over the Christmas period, excluding 24th, 25th and 26th December. And I will be taking a week off work in January to try and sort out the moving boxes and straighten up our new home from January 5th - 11th (can’t believe I’ve not taken a week off since the summer holidays 😩).

I have limited availability for:
Pet check ins over the new year period
Weekly/fortnightly cleaning slots
Group dog walks.

Please do contact me by text or telephone on 07513415119.

Wishing all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Here’s to hoping everyone has a lovely and well deserved break.
