Afternoon all ..

Since launching the website , it has seen an overwhelming response in the way of emails through the website since it's launch .

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties and launch- teething problems the email section has remained functional but kept kicking me out and struggling to sign back in .

This problem has now been sorted and all those that have emailed through the website have been contacted .

Apologized to all those that , at the time , didn't have a response from me .

This year is already beginning to be a very exciting time , whilst moles are of course the number 1 reason people contact me , it is good to see I am now being contacted for a number of other wildlife issues , which is fantastic , it breaks up my week and provides more challenges and more feathers to add to my cap .

Heavy snow is expected for later today so I will be getting my local jobs done then heading back in .
The sky appears to be full of snow but whether it drops is another matter .
Any customers who i haven't been able to attend today will be re-booked in for next week .
Snow isn't so much bad to work in , but with my type of work it requires a lot of country roads that aren't used like a main , so to act on the side of caution I will call it a day for today .

No foot no horse .

A customer of mine has recently moved in to a property where the fields were inhabited by moles .

Moles present danger to horses in more ways than one .

These paddocks are now cleared and the horses are able to free graze again once the fields have been rolled .

Lethal and humane trapping

PLEASE NOTE
under the wildlife and countryside act 1982
It is ILLEGAL to release a grey squirrel back in to the wild and must be dispatched via an appropriate method by a competent person with the appropriate kit .

There are many methods of controlling grey squirrels . Here are some of the methods I use.

Lethal trapping with LEGAL approved spring traps
Shooting
Humane trapping
Drey poking ( usually done in a forestry environment )

I mix modern technology with traditional trapping techniques as you will see from the video below .

Should squirrels be causing you an issue ,please do get in touch .

Whoever you choose to control your squirrels , please choose a competent individual or company that knows what they're doing with high powered spring traps whilst at all times maintaining high welfare standards which of course is the skill of the person / trapper using whatever methods that are employed .

Combining modern technology with traditional trapping techniques
On this occasion this camera will help determine how squirrels are getting in & out of a conservatory roof and help identify the number of squirrels I am dealing with before putting in place a trapping program .
It will also send me still shots /videos direct to my phone wherever I might be at the time working for me 24/7 . Using these devices alongside my traps really is
A good combirion in any trappers arsenal .

Over the course of the next week or so I will be posting more information on the wildlife that I can assist with within a management programme and as to why we try to manage them

First up MINK

As charming as they might look , they are anything but .

Mink can cause absolute devastation to fisheries and our water vole population , which as a species has come under threat due to predetation by mink.
Mink will also take ducks , ducklings , eggs you name it if a mink can fit it in its mouth it is most certainly on the menu

A member of the mustelidae family ( stoats , weasels , ferrets , otters ,) is a none native species to the UK and was introduced specifically for fur farms until a bunch were released due to animal right activists thinking they were doing something for the greater good when infact all they did was release something that caused absolute carnage
They are commonly found on waterways and are semi aquatic mammals
Andy professional MoleCatcher & wildlife services can offer the following management programme should you be experiencing issues with mink in any situation

To control mink populations, trapping with cage traps followed by humane dispatch (like shooting) is the most effective and legally acceptable method, as it avoids harm to non-target species followed by LETHAL trapping.

Traps by law have to be checked every 24 hours ,

I can also assist with tracking mink numbers within a designated area using tracking cartridges and to be sure there are mink present in the area

Tracking cartridges are also a useful tool for monitoring other wildlife in the area should they enter the raft .
