Ceramic coating a HGV windscreen is a practical safety upgrade, not a cosmetic one.

When applied correctly, a glass-specific ceramic coating significantly improves visibility by repelling water, dirt, and road grime, allowing rain to bead and clear quickly at speed. This reduces wiper reliance and driver fatigue, particularly in poor weather and night driving conditions.

However, performance starts with correct preparation. Vehicles must be thoroughly and properly washed, and tap water should never be allowed to dry on the glass. The minerals present in tap water can deposit into the microscopic pores of the windscreen, clogging them and leading to water spotting, dirt retention, glare, and reduced visibility over time.
