Happy Hump day - Keep an eye out for a story to show the full video of Pete climbing out from behind stove.

We needed to gain access to chimney and as the register plate so high couldn’t access from infront of stove, at least there was space behind 😝

January - March is the peak season for chimney fires, and we have started to see incidents reported across the UK. This is why we are running our Book a Sweep campaign with the hope of reducing instances of chimney fires this winter!

Some simple steps to reduce your risk:
🔴 Use Ready to Burn fuels
🔴 Stick to guidance on distances to combustibles for your log burner
🔴 Regular servicing and sweeping routines

Find your local approved chimney sweep by using your postcode on the HETAS website. 👇🎩

Why should you avoid slumbering your stove? 🤔

It can lead to:
🔴 Sooty and/or dry deposits on the flue lining
🔴 Increased levels of carbon monoxide and particulates
🔴 Increased likelihood of condensation within the chimney

These problems will contribute to a risk of corrosion, ultimately reducing the lifespan of your liner. Find further guidance on our Advice Hub or contact your local HETAS registrant. 👇🔗

🏠🔥 A Windy Day Tip for Fireplace Owners! 🌬️✨

Here's a fun fact you may not have considered: adverse weather conditions can make quite a mess of your cozy indoor space! How, you might ask? Well, strong winds or a sudden draught can cause loose soot in your chimney to become dislodged, potentially dusting your house with that not-so-cozy fireplace residue. 😮

But that's not all! These weather changes can also reverse the flow of fumes from your fire or stove, which might affect your safety and the comfort of your home. 🏠❄️
There’s a potential risk that when opening the door to refuel that hot embers could be blown into the living space‼️🔥

So, what's the best way to combat these effects? The answer lies in the way you burn your fire. On windy days, use lots of kindling to establish a strong draught then aim for a burn that's hot and bright. Letting it burn too low may allow flue gases to cool, triggering the downdraught phenomenon, 🔥💨

Unfortunately there will be days when the wind is just too strong to make a fire safely you will have to be the judge.

But remember, the best practice to keep your home warm and risk-free is regular chimney sweeping. This will reduce the chances of soot fall and, most importantly, prevent the dreaded chimney fire. 🔥🚫🧹

Stay safe and keep your fires burning bright. Enjoy the warmth of your hearth without the worry!
