We are devastated to inform you that one of our much loved Under 12’s Dads, Iain Hughes is reported missing after his inspirational attempt to swim the English Channel for charity. Iain set off on his solo attempt accompanied by a support boat on Tuesday 20th June.

A search effort took place for many hours supported by French and Belgian military helicopters, navy and police patrol boats but despite their efforts Iain’s whereabouts are still unknown. French authorities have confirmed the search has now officially ended.

Iain, aged 42 not only serves in West Midlands Fire service but is also a true Club person, giving his spare time in supporting the Under 12’s with first aid cover and most recently Fitness coaching, getting the team prepared for the upcoming season.

We know Iain has trained long and hard for this challenge with pure dedication and determination. His fitness is at a level some of us could only dream about, which makes this tragic news even harder to comprehend. A man who has devoted his life to helping others, described as kind, sincere, Inspirational and a “top man”.

Our thoughts go out to Iain’s Family, his West Midlands Fire Service family and of course his Rugby family here at Stourbridge Rugby.

Iain organised an amazing Band night at the Club last year when the Clubhouse was packed out as Queen Reloaded entertained us all. This night made over £1000 for Iain’s chosen charities, The British Heart Foundation, The Firefighters charity and Midlands Air Ambulance.

We all feel numb and helpless at this tragic news and naturally feel like we need to do something to help.

And there is something that we can do and that is to make sure Iain gets to his £21,000 target. Iain set this goal to represent £1000 for every one of the 21 miles he aimed to do. He wrote that he thought it was an optimistic amount, but I’m sure If we share this far and wide, we can all complete this challenge for Iain. Whether it's a £1 or a £1000 lets show Iain our dedication and determination.

This wonderful family are running to show their support for the Grant Family in memory of their precious Teddy.

"Teddy tragically passed away just 1 week after his 1st birthday. Teddy was experiencing prolonged seizures, and on 19th October 2015 he tragically suffered a complex seizure, which resulted in a cardiac arrest. Teddy’s inspiring Mum and Dad, Nikki and Charlie, continue to do all they can to keep his memory alive and support other children like Teddy along the way. We would love to give them a helping hand. The Daisy Garland is a charity which offers help and support to families whose lives have been touched by drug resistant epilepsy. Money raised for the charity will help fund equipment to monitor children’s seizures so they can lead normal and safe lives. Pip and I are back in monkey bar training for the Wolf Run on Sunday 25th June. This year we have got the family involved bringing along Dad, Auntie Vic and Uncle Dan. We are joining my sister and her family this year to do the Wolf Run... Trying to save raise some money for a charity set up by her friend.

I'm slightly concerned as you've all been keeping me so busy I haven't had chance to do much training 😱 Hopefully we can make my humiliation worthwhile by raising lots of money!! Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated ❤️❤️

I loved making these curtains out of the most gorgeous art nouveau fabric for a client's music room. I also gave this room a fresh coat of paint and a deep clean and it felt so fresh and inviting once I was done!
