💚 Unsure if this is allowed… but I have to try. 💚
Can anyone help my friend (or someone else in need)? PLEASE share — there must be someone out there who could be a match and give not only me, but my little girls (aged 12 & 2), the chance at a normal life. They shouldn’t have to see their mummy hooked up to a dialysis machine 4 times a week. We should be able to go on holidays for longer than 3 nights and make real memories together.
As many of you know, I’ve been living with type 1 diabetes since I was 8 years old. Sadly, it’s led to kidney failure. Right now, dialysis keeps me alive — but it also takes over my life. I’ve been on the transplant list for 5 years and haven’t had a match yet.
My family has tried to help — my mum was a match, but sadly didn’t pass the final test. My husband Damien and my mother-in-law Erica have even signed up for the “sharing bank,” which means if they match with someone else and another person matches with me, more than one life could be saved.
Here’s what many people don’t realise:
👉 You can be a living kidney donor. We only need one kidney to live.
👉 You don’t need to be related to me to be a match.
👉 My blood type is O, but even if that’s not your type, you can still go on the register and possibly help.
The first step is a simple blood test. If you’d like to be tested to see if you could be my match (or help someone else in need), please contact Lisa at the Live Donor Team on 0161 701 7769 and mention you’d like to be tested for me.
This is not an easy thing to ask — I’d never want anyone to feel pressured. But if sharing this post or putting yourself forward could save a life, it would mean the world.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for sharing. 💚
