Project update from our church restoration project in Collessie, Fife.

The north elevation of Phase 2 is now complete, and with the scaffold now dismantled, the quality and transformation of the finished masonry can finally be seen in full.

As part of the restoration works, we undertook a complete 100% rake out of all defective and failing pointing across the elevation. The stonework was then carefully repointed using premium pre-mixed lime mortars, colour matched to the client’s exact specification to ensure the finished appearance remained sympathetic to the age and character of the church.

Using traditional materials and techniques is essential when working on historic buildings, allowing the structure to breathe naturally while protecting the long-term integrity of the masonry.

A fantastic result and another successful phase completed on this important restoration project.

Central Masonry Services Ltd undertook a complete transformation of this once tired red-rendered cottage, turning it into a striking, modern home with clean lines and timeless character.

The original exterior, worn and dated, was carefully prepared before being reimagined using Denfind stone veneer, which instantly elevated the property with a natural, high-end finish. The choice of stone added depth, texture, and a contemporary edge while still respecting the building’s traditional roots.

To ensure both durability and authenticity, the stonework was expertly pointed using a premium pre-mixed lime mortar. This not only enhances the visual appeal with crisp, precise joints but also allows the structure to breathe, preserving the integrity of the building for years to come.

The result is a seamless blend of old and new, a once modest cottage now standing as a sleek, modern home with undeniable kerb appeal and craftsmanship at its core.

Project Update – Stone Veneer Contract, Perth 🏠⚒️

After a challenging start to the year with some tough weather conditions, we’ve finally been able to get properly underway on our stone veneer project in Perth.

Great progress has been made over the past couple of weeks. The front elevation and one gable are now built, carefully washed down, and are currently being pointed using a high-grade premixed lime mortar to ensure a strong, breathable and long-lasting finish.

While that work is being completed, we’re continuing the build on the second gable using Defind stone veneer, which is really starting to bring the whole project together. It’s always satisfying to see the character and texture of the stone transform the look of a building as the job progresses.

Despite the slow start earlier in the year, the project is now moving along nicely and we’re hopeful everything will be completed within the next few weeks.

Project Update – Paisley new build

Central Masonry Services Ltd have recommenced masonry works following a period of adverse cold and wet weather which temporarily halted site operations.

This bespoke, one-off new build is progressing well and the structure is now clearly taking form. Masonry works are being carried out using tumbled buff rubble stone supplied by Dunhouse Quarries. The stone provides a varied and well-balanced colour range, giving depth and character to the elevations.

Further updates will follow as the build advances, with final detailing and lime pointing scheduled for the next phase, subject to weather conditions.

Progress update from our Paisley new build 🧱

The works have been progressing well, with the team delivering high-quality pitched face rubble stonework and great attention to detail across the elevations. The standard of workmanship to date has been excellent and in line with the project requirements.

Works were recently paused due to adverse weather conditions, and our masonry team is currently off site while conditions improve. Our team is scheduled to return shortly, at which point works will recommence and momentum will be quickly regained.

A big thanks to the client for their patience and understanding we’re looking forward to getting back on site and sharing further progress soon.

🏠⚒️Project Update – Central Masonry⚒️🏠

Central Masonry has been busy transforming this tired old bungalow, taking it from dated red painted cement render to a fresh, contemporary finish.

The property is now well on its way to a full revitalisation thanks to the installation of Denfind stone cladding slips.

The team carefully prepared the substrate before fixing the stone slips using a high-performance adhesive, ensuring a durable bond and clean, accurate lines across the façade. The natural texture and colour variation of the Denfind stone has already made a dramatic difference, giving the home a much more modern and refined appearance.

The next stage after full build complete will see all beds and joints pointed with traditional lime mortar, which will enhance breathability, highlight the stonework, and complete the overall aesthetic. Once finished, the bungalow will not only look transformed but will also benefit from improved longevity and low-maintenance exterior masonry.

More progress updates to follow as the project moves into the final stages.

Central Masonry Services Ltd recently completed the restoration of a old deteriorated property suffering from outdated and failing cement mortar.

Our team carefully removed the hard cement joints, which had been restricting the building’s ability to breathe and contributing to ongoing damage within the masonry.

Once the stonework was properly prepared, we repointed the structure using a high-quality premixed lime mortar chosen for its compatibility with traditional materials and its ability to manage moisture effectively. This method not only strengthens and protects the building but also restores the clean, authentic appearance of the original masonry.

Through precise workmanship and a respect for historic construction practices, Central Masonry Services Ltd successfully revitalised the property, ensuring it will remain both structurally sound and visually appealing for years to come.
