✨ Project Complete ✨

We’ve recently completed the full repointing of this beautiful traditional farmhouse, restoring both gable ends and the front elevation using time-tested techniques and high-quality lime mortar.

Every bed and joint was carefully raked out by hand, removing all defective mortar before repointing with a custom salmon colour-matched lime mix, ensuring the new mortar complements the original masonry perfectly.

By using breathable lime mortar, we’ve helped protect the building from future moisture issues while preserving its character and historic charm.

A restoration carried out with care, precision, and respect for the original craftsmanship.

New week. New project. Another valued returning client.

There’s no better way to start the week than getting back on site for a client who trusts us to deliver the highest standard of workmanship.

This project involves the complete removal of 100% of the defective mortar from the front elevation before carefully repointing the entire façade using traditional lime mortar. It’s a meticulous process, but one that’s essential for protecting the building, allowing it to breathe, and preserving its character for years to come.

At Central Masonry Services Ltd, we don’t believe in shortcuts. Every bed and joint is raked out thoroughly, prepared correctly, and repointed with the care and attention that quality conservation work demands.

We’re looking forward to sharing the transformation as the project progresses. Keep an eye out for the before, during, and after photos.

It’s always rewarding to see traditional craftsmanship bringing these old buildings back to life. Looking forward to sharing more progress as the restoration continues.

Cement out. Lime in. The transformation continues.

We’re pleased to share an update on another restoration project.

All of the cement mortar has now been successfully removed, and the front elevation has been fully repointed and completed using traditional lime mortar. The difference is already clear, allowing the building to breathe as it was originally intended.

Work now continues on the gable end, where we’ll remove the remaining cement mortar before carefully repointing with the same traditional lime mortar.

No cosmetic fixes. No compromises. Just the right materials, the right methods, attention to detail, and the commitment every period property deserves.

We’ll continue to share progress as this restoration moves forward.

Restoration project recently completed in Stirling.

Following the removal of an old greenhouse, the bottom of this original stone gable was uncovered after being concealed behind old framing for many years.

Our team carefully removed the existing paint, raked out the failed mortar and repointed the stonework using a colour-matched lime mortar, selected to suit both the client’s specification and the character of the building.

The result is a sympathetic restoration that enhances the appearance of the masonry while ensuring it remains breathable and protected for years to come, ready for the installation of the new greenhouse.

We’re pleased to be starting another specialist restoration project.

Our brief is simple—remove every trace of the existing cement mortar from the front elevation and gable end, then carefully repoint the property using traditional lime mortar.

No cosmetic fixes. No compromises. Just the right materials, the right methods, the attention to detail and the commitment that every period property deserves.

We look forward to sharing the transformation as this project progresses.

👀 The finished result…

After years of water ingress issues, this property in Monimail was in need of some expert attention.

We removed the defective cement mortar from the gable and chimney, carried out the necessary repairs, and repointed using traditional lime mortar to help the building breathe and shed moisture naturally.

A simple repair done properly can make a huge difference.

Protected. Preserved. Ready for many more years to come. 🏡

Collessie Project Update

Good progress continues at our Collessie project, with the scaffold now fully dismantled on the south elevation and the elevation successfully completed.

The works involved the careful removal of all defective mortar, followed by the installation of new lime mortar, expertly matched to the client’s specified colour and finish. This approach ensures both the long-term preservation of the masonry and a seamless appearance in keeping with the character of the building.

The completed elevation now showcases a high-quality finish, reflecting the care and attention to detail invested throughout the repointing process.
