One of the unexpected highlights of last night’s rat shooting on one of our farm contracts was spotting a hedgehog searching for food.

Hedgehogs have sadly become a much rarer sight across the UK, so it's always a privilege to come across one in the wild. Seeing healthy wildlife on the farms we work is something we never take for granted.

While pest control plays an important role in protecting livestock, feed, equipment and farm buildings, it's great to be reminded of the other species that call these farms home.

🐝 First wasp nest treatment of the season completed today.

Before any treatment was carried out, the area was thoroughly checked to ensure there were no bats present and no open water storage that could be affected.

While wasps can sometimes become a nuisance and pose a health and safety risk, especially around homes, schools, and workplaces, they are also important pollinators and play a valuable role in our ecosystem by helping control other insect populations.

I had the pleasure of relocating this bee colony last week. Ordinarily they would have been left to do their thing but were preventing completion of a new roof on a garden office at the customers property.
The colony was safely removed and taken to an area where they will not be disturbed.
