👣 This September, Shallowford House is partnering with Walk the Walk to host Time for a Change? — a series of three reflective retreat days rooted in creation, prayer and spiritual renewal.

Through guided walks, reflection, creativity and conversation, these days offer space to slow down, listen and notice what God may be doing beneath the surface of your everyday life.

Each day can be experienced as a stand-alone retreat, allowing you to attend the theme most relevant to your current season. Alternatively, the three days can be combined into one deeper residential retreat experience at Shallowford House, with optional overnight stays available.

Through guided walks, reflection, creativity and conversation, these days offer space to slow down, listen and notice what God may be doing beneath the surface of your everyday life.

🌱 As Spring continues to unfurl across Shallowford, our Groundskeeper has been giving the lawns their first cut of the season, and the whole estate is starting to feel alive again.

Across Shallowford’s acres, the lawns, meadows, nature trail and all the quiet corners are waking up - blossom overhead, birdsong in the trees, and inviting green spaces ready to welcome you throughout the Spring and Summer.

🌿As spring brings signs of life and renewal across Shallowford, this month, Susan Hutchinson invites us to pause and remember the living hope we have in Jesus.

Through His resurrection, we are reminded that darkness does not have the final word, that fear gives way to hope, and that new life is possible, today and for eternity.

Shallowford House is delighted to host retreat days in partnership with Candied Appeal, offering space to pause, reflect, and explore faith deeply, in light of the environmental demands present in the world around us.

He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands | Friday 18th September | 10am-3.30pm

A creation-tide retreat exploring a Christian response to the environmental crisis, reconnecting with creation as gift, our calling as stewards, and God’s care for all He has made.

In a Manger Meanly | Monday 23rd November | 10am-3.30pm

A reflective Advent retreat revisiting the story of Jesus’ birth, inviting us to prepare for a simpler, gentler Christmas by letting go of some of the excess and refocusing on the gift of Good News.

£35 per person, including refreshments, a two-course lunch, and access to the House and grounds for personal reflection until 4.30pm.

✝️ As the light breaks over the grounds at Shallowford, the cross stands quietly at the centre - a constant reminder that in Jesus Christ, darkness will never have the final word.

This Easter, we remember the hope of the resurrection: that through Jesus, what seemed lost is restored, what was broken is made new, and that life rises again.

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!” (Luke 24:5–6)

May this season draw you closer to God, bringing peace, renewal, and a deeper sense of His presence.

Shallowford remains a place to pause, reflect, and encounter that living hope.

Last weekend we had the privilege of welcoming the Armed Forces Christian Union to Shallowford House. In just a short time, they generously gave over 100 man hours serving across the estate; chopping and stacking wood, building a new shed for our Volunteer Gardeners, and providing the muscle to move heavier items around the grounds.

Their willingness to serve was matched only by a spirit of joy and fellowship, with plenty of time spent together in prayer and worship.

We are deeply grateful - not only for all that was achieved, but for the heart behind it. A powerful reminder of what can happen when faith, community, and service come together.

Tonight, the heavens feel especially close - clear, vast, and radiant. Each star seems to whisper something eternal and transcendent.

Standing beneath a night sky like this, it’s hard not to pause in wonder. As we look up, the noise and pace of the day recedes, and we’re reminded that we are part of a much bigger story.
