I have had the pleasure of looking after this beautiful converted barn for 7 year now .we have also booked it many times to .

Deep in north Northumberland not far from ridsdale off the a68. So pretty tranquil and peaceful .
I highly recommend having a look at the very least ! Lovely lovely owners too ! Oh you can take your pooch too 😊🐕.

The Byres is a beautiful holiday home in the heart of the stunning Northumberland countryside.

UNPOPULAR OPINION (FROM A CLEANER):

Why are cleaners the only trade people tell what they want to pay?

Imagine calling an electrician and saying:

“Yeah… I know you quoted £300 but I was thinking £120?”

You wouldn’t.

Because you’d be laughed off the phone.

You don’t negotiate with plumbers when your pipes burst.

You don’t tell a solicitor your “budget” for legal advice.

You don’t ask a dentist for a discount halfway through a filling.

But cleaners?

“Oh… this is what I want to pay.”
“This is my budget.”
“It should only take a couple hours.”
“Can you just do it cheaper?”

Let me say this louder for the people at the back:

HYGIENE IS NOT A MARKET STALL.

You are not negotiating over a handbag.
You are negotiating over cleanliness, bacteria control, safety, and standards.

What fascinates me is this, people will happily spend:

💷 £4+ on a coffee
💷 Hundreds on takeaways each month
💷 Thousands on décor and furniture

…but suddenly become expert negotiators when it comes to the thing that actually protects the environment they live or work in.

Why is hygiene the one service people think is optional… or negotiable?

You’re not paying for “a wipe over.”

You’re paying for:

✔ experience
✔ insurance
✔ equipment
✔ chemicals
✔ compliance
✔ physical labour
✔ accountability

And most importantly, care.

Cleaners aren’t overpriced.

The industry has just been undervalued for far too long.

So here’s my controversial take:

If you want cheap, you don’t want professional.

And if you negotiate on hygiene… don’t be surprised when standards match the price.

Another busy start to the week ...

Just clocked off and in the car on the way home at last !

Just wanted to pop a post on to say that I am now fully booked out the rest of this month and all of March!

I do have a cancellation list i can put people on for one off cleans ☺️
And any dates I get i will post on the socials !

Morning guys !

Can't quite believe I'm writing this.....

My small business turns 4 year old this week! 😱

4 years of me being my own boss !
Building up a regular customer base and over 75% of them have been with me since year 1!

I have 20 regular customers a mix of residential / office / factory and air bnb! And I personally think that's an amazing achievement for me!

I'm super super proud of what I have achieved in these 4 years !
And when I say it has been hard i mean that !

Everyone instantly assumes you have it cushy being your own boss . FYI you really do not at all .

I get no days off when I want .no holiday pay , I have to save to cover my jobs i loose while I'm on holiday in order to pay my bills .
No sick pay , and then trying to squeeze the jobs you loose in somewhere so I'm not out of pocket.
I work 6 days a week most weeks for around 10 month of the year .

The best part for me is i don't answer to anyone , and all the work done is my own and I know its done to my standards that I know are expected of me .
And thats what makes it all worth while 😊

You will never please everyone and thats life , but i have built up the loyalty and trust of all of my lovely customers , quite a few i now class as good friends.😊

So for me to be going into 4 years of being my own boss, late night's doing diary's,and months of mileage because I kept putting it off ! Weeks of anxiety as tax return date looms , updating socials, post it notes all over reminding me to reply to messages ( sorry im horrendous for forgetting) keeping tabs on stock , and the hundreds of cloths my poor washer cleans 🤣
Is amazing and worth every stress and ache and pain 🤣

Not forgetting im a mam to 4 children.(5 if you count the OH 🤣) And a nana to a 15 month old .a almost non existent social life and I dont see my family as much as id like to .
But this is life and im living it the best I can .... and bossing it!

TGFI!! Almost done for today! 1 job left ...

Anyway I just wanted to pop on , im doing a half marathon hike fir macmillan and my lovely mam in September . Just looking for any tips or advice on how to train and when to start training etc .would be most helpful ☺️ if anyone would like to donate i have popped link on this post..lots are saying im brave ! I wonder if thats code fir stupid!🤣🤣🤣

Morning guys ( not a good one )

Apologies to any customers ive had to reschedule or cancel today !
Something I really dislike doing as
1 . I hate to let anyone down
2. Self employed equals no sick pay !

Sadly but inevitably i have caught our little boys head cold /virus . I foolishly went to work yesterday and its made me worse !
So one day of bed rest to put myself right , I say bed rest 🤣 not doable with me .maybe some admin and rest .
