Vapour blasting is also commonly know as Aqua blasting and wet blasting. Vapour blasting uses a mix of water and fine media (glass is most common) that is mixed in to a slurry and feeds a high pressure hand gun, at this point it is supplied with high pressure air that increases the velocity of the slurry mix. This process removes contaminants from the surface without damaging the original surface
of the material. For example: paint, rust, oxidation, worn/unwanted coatings as well as the ability to de-burr post machined parts. Why use Vapour Blasting over traditional sand or dry blasting? Vapour blasting is less aggressive to the original material as the water acts as a damper/lubricator to the media used. The water mix allows the wash out of the media in internal parts of the product being cleaned, like engine cylinder heads, blocks, carburettors and any components with small orifice. Dry system causes dust as the media splits and brakes down on contact as wet or vapour blasting contains all the broken and split media in the water. This is then safely washed away in to the cabinet basin. Vapour blasting produces less heat than that of dry blasting, this helps to prevent warping of very thin and delicate parts. Gives a great finish for painting and coating; a peened soft satin sheen finish. What we do here at JJ Vapour Blast
Automotive and motorcycle parts; removing rust, grease, factory coatings and restoring to a satin new look finish. Industrial components; newly machined parts to remove small machining burrs. Marine parts, boat parts to removed salt water damage
Example of just some materials we can clean: Aluminium, steel, iron, bronze, copper, brass, and magnesium. All ferrous materials are coated with a rust inhibitor after blasting, they won't require degreasing once you have received the parts back, they will be ready for paint straight away. We have the ability to change media type quickly and reduce air pressure to blast sensitive parts like antique restorations, fire damage parts and wood cleaning, without damaging the items themselves. We are a small family run business. Our process. Contact us via our page or email with a description of the parts requiring cleaning. A photo is a good idea if you are able to send one. We will create an estimate for you. If you agree; its time to drop off or send us your items
We will confirm the quote
We will then clean the items in a parts wash tank and hot wash
We then use the vapour blast machine to blast your parts to a new look. If required we can lightly coat in rust inhibiter the parts to prevent oxidisation during transportation back to you. Once you have received the part you can paint or leave in a beautiful satin peened finish.
