Rats on an estate

Called out from a management company. Rats seen running around the estate. Main issues like most of the places is communal bin areas. Normally people dump all their s**t here. Also, things like raw chicken and other food stuffs left out for Foxes. Why oh why do people feed Foxes confuses me. Other issues on this estate is the river running behind the estate and also the fact that one apartment block is coming away from the foundations creating voids for Rats to live under it.

Anyway, a massive list of issues that ain’t going away anytime soon

Rat monitoring

A job where Rats have been entering the house from an unknown location. The only accessible area to monitor was in a cavity space with pipe work. This allowed me to put tracking dust down and a camera. Both of these things helped me establish that the Rats are coming from the manhole area under the floor. Problem is this area is hidden away after being buried under the floor by the builder who built the extension.

At some point the floor will need to be taken up to get to the root cause which is allowing the Rats to enter.

Bedbugs!

One of four rooms to treat.

All rooms caked in diatomaceous earth which never works as you can see. All rooms to be vacuumed and cleaned before heat and chemicals. Home owner advised to bin infected furniture 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, what do I know.

Attic cleaning!

Called out to clean and decontaminate two massive attic eave storage areas.

Massive issue with Field Mice entering over the years and pretty much having the run of the place. Cleared up massive amounts of nesting material and p**p and then discovering a Cluster fly nest under an old TV.

A grim day really!

Thanks to for helping

Rats

Called out to a HMO with an ongoing Rat issue affecting downstairs to rear of house.

Survey revealed a massive trench dug out by the Rats in the drain area and then entering the property via defective brickwork.

Bait laid. Once dead this area will be dug out and drain pipes inspected and proofed accordingly.

Rats

Second visit to this house for Rats. I couldn’t get access to the drain area last week but could this week. On inspection found a weak point in the drain pit next to the sewer. This will need cementing asap. Always pays to do proper surveys.

Attic clean

Part of pest control is also cleaning. Especially after rodent activity in attics. This job had over four decades of rodent s**t and nests. Also, the original glass fibre stuff of nightmares insulation was still there. This was all removed, attic swept and vacuumed, cleaned and then new mineral wool insulation laid down.
