Fly infestation

Called to a house earlier with a mass of Flies coming from the basement. Unable to locate the origin whilst down there. Probably a dead Rodney somewhere. Only thing I found was a mummified Rat.

Whilst I wait for my new fogger I sprayed as much as possible down there with wet chemical. Knocked it all down immediately.

Rats under a carehome

Four visits now to a local carehome. Rats extinguished. Flys are there now. Second stage will now be to search and locate as much as possible under this home to try and locate the origin of the horrific smells and entry points etc. Well that job has to be discussed financially first with the management. Crawling under here is a bit like that movie Backrooms.

Bad Carpet Moth situation

Called out to a split level apartment which has old wool carpets in quite a few rooms. This treatment involved vacuuming all rooms thoroughly which also included under cabinets, beds, rugs, furniture. The reason for this is that Carpet Moths just love to do damage in shaded areas you don’t see. Once vacuumed a two part residual insecticide is used which will give protection for up to 15 days.

Squirrels

Second visit to this job. My original Good Nature trap in the attic hasn’t worked so it’s plan 2 using the WCS trap mounted onto the guttering with cable ties. Always an anxiety inducing five minutes setting the trigger whilst wobbling around on top of the ladder.

Final two Field Mice caught.

Drove the customer mad for weeks in their bedroom ceiling. Convinced they had Squirrels or Rats as they were so loud. It’s easy to get led down the wrong path from the customers description of what they think it is.

My rule of thumb is:

It’s either Rats or Mice. Squirrels on rare occasions. Sometimes a Wasp/Bee nest as they can hear a crunching scratching sound in the walls/ceilings. Could be birds but then you hear flapping and chirping

Basically there are only a few ‘UK Pests’ that it could be.

I once got called out a termite infestation. It was a caterpillar on the living room wall.

Don’t always rely on the customers expertise and intuition as it’s normally a red herring.

Bed Bugs in a Caravan

Called out to a Bed Bug issue in a Caravan.

After a good survey found the t***s hiding in the headboard. Headboards removed. Steam treatment performed throughout followed by a double mix of chemicals.
