Dopamine expert and Stanford psychiatrist Doctor Anna Lembke explained something to me about motivation that rewired my brain...

Motivation is not fuel. It's the bi-product of momentum.

Your brain is a prediction machine.

Before you start, it overestimates the pain and underestimates the reward.

Every unmade decision looks harder than it is.

But the moment you begin - write one sentence, do one pushup, make one call - everything changes.

That single action triggers dopamine. Not much, but enough.

And dopamine isn't the molecule of pleasure; it's the molecule of more. It whispers: "That wasn't so bad. Do it again."

This creates a simple formula:

Tiny action → Small dopamine hit → Slightly easier next action → More dopamine → Momentum

The key I've found is to make the first action so small that your brain can't object. Then let chemistry do the work.
