I know I shouldn't need to tell you not to put hot embers in a wooden box, but... 🤦‍♀️😢

How do you dispose of the embers when you put out your log burner?

Crews were called to this house in West Mersea today after neighbours saw smoke.

Embers from a log burner had been put in a wooden container and started a fire.

Crews extinguished the fire and cleared the smoke, which had filled the property.

Watch Manager Dave Farrant said: "When you put out your log burner, make sure embers are completely cool and put them in a fireproof container.

"We'd like to praise neighbours for calling 999 as the occupants were out when the fire started."

Last winter was mild, but here's just one reason why you should still sweep your chimney if you plan to use it, even if it hasn't been used since the last sweep.
This cobweb has already started gathering debris, feathers etc that could potentially block the flue leaving smoke and carbon monoxide unable to escape safely.

Are they scarecrows or penny for guys? 🤔 Either way they looked fabulous outside a church in Brentwood today.

Yep, there's definitely a nest in there!
Have a great weekend everyone!

To find a CO alarm with a date on never happens. To find two is rarer than hen's teeth 😊
