With the majority of rat ingress, unless there are obvious defects with the building rats will be getting into our homes via defective drains. Key signs to be looking for as a customer and questions to be asked are as follows
Have you recently had a new extension built in the last year and has this problem only happened since the build.
Are the noises you are hearing intermittent and more frequent after a good down pour.
Have you had a new kitchen fitted and changed the location of your sink.
Have you changed anything to do with the drainage ie newly installed toilets.
On-going issues with rats over the years. Just putting poisons down does not fix the issue.
Have you had a new manhole put in or moved the original one to allow for an extension to your property.
Has the original vertical stack pipe been relocated.
Are you hearing noises in the walls of your extension.
Does your house have cavity walls.

If your answer is yes to any of the above, it's more than likely rats are getting under your house via defective drains.

Please feel free to get in contact so we can discuss your issues further. We can then book in our Rat detection team to solve your rat issues once and for all.

Did you know.... key facts....

Majority of the times rats are coming into our homes for one main reason, to steal insulation from our walls and loft spaces to keep there nests warm and clean. This is why you get a few days of silence, once it's all wet and dirty they will kick it into the drains and replenish from our lofts etc.

With this in mind rats will mainly have their nests just outside the drainage systems ie broken or displaced joints, water or gas pipes moled through the clay pipes, open redundant branch lines all make perfect areas for rats to nest. All their food and water is right on their door step, apart from one thing, clean bedding and you guessed it, cavity wall and loft insulation is perfect.

Rats are actually very clean rodents, cleaning and grooming themselves at least 20% of the day.

Rats use there droppings as scent markers to help them navigate around our homes, mainly by the entrances into our lofts or void spaces.

Rats mainly do there droppings in what's known as latrines. Unlike mice who just poo everywhere.

Once rats have made an establishment in our loft spaces they will leave friendly pheremone trails which attract others to the areas.

Rats have very poor sight senses, so they use scents and touch as there main ways to navigate.

Rats are very smart and cleaver animals, they can develop behaviour resistance to new items in there environments, also know as neophobia.

Please get in contact and we will get you solutions to your problems.
