Why Spring Is the Best Time for a Chimney Sweep?

Prevents Corrosive Damage
Soot and creosote deposits are acidic. If left sitting in your chimney over the summer, they can corrode steel liners and gradually damage brickwork.

Eliminates Unpleasant Odours
Warmer, humid weather can cause lingering soot and creosote smells to flow back into your home.

Avoids the Autumn Rush
Chimney sweeps are busiest in autumn, with wait long times. Booking in spring means quicker, more flexible service.

Gives Time for Repairs
If a sweep uncovers issues like structural damage or a faulty liner, spring and summer provide plenty of time to arrange repairs before colder weather returns.

This is an important reminder to not store logs next to the stove. Any combustible materials should be kept clear from the fireplace.

Cosy nights and crackling fires are a welcome comfort on colder evenings but itโ€™s important to use them safely.

If your log burner or open fire is back in use, make sure your chimney has been swept and your appliance properly serviced to help reduce the risk of chimney fires.

Keep logs, coal and other fuels stored well away from the heat, and always use a spark guard to stop embers escaping.

Donโ€™t let a preventable chimney fire undo the comfort of your evening.
