We won’t be naming anyone.

I believe that’s disrespectful and doesn’t reflect who I am.

People’s actions show their character — how situations are handled shows mine.

So far this year, I’ve removed waste and then been forced to return it due to refusal of payment. I understand that many people are struggling — but so are small businesses.

My company relies on income to operate. Disposal costs are payable immediately and must be covered in full at the disposal site, even when waste from multiple jobs is tipped together. Charges are applied accordingly to reflect disposal costs. This is why my terms are payment upon completion. When payment isn’t made, I’m left out of pocket — fuel, multiple insurances, waste disposal, time, and soon, future staff wages will also need to be covered.

Without payment, my vehicle remains full until disposal costs are covered. This directly interrupts service for customers who follow the correct process and pay on time, preventing scheduled work from moving forward.

This policy protects my business, future staff, and customers who pay correctly.

I’ve explained this many times since starting — publicly, to clients, and through networking — and it continues to be ignored.

From today onward, there will be no further explanations.

No payment = no service. It’s that simple.

This policy does not affect customers operating under pre-agreed payment terms or special agreements

When I said waste compliance was changing 😱

To help ease that pressure on everyone involved, Miller’s Time To Shine is offering limited additional support for households that need short-term assistance while services catch up.

🎉✨ Celebrating 3 Years of Miller’s Time To Shine – Our Story, Our Struggle, Our Vision ✨🎉

Three years ago, Miller’s Time To Shine wasn’t a business… it was just an idea, a bucket 🪣 and a ladder 🪜.

Back when I worked in the homeless unit, I met a young lad who dreamed of being a window cleaner. He had the skill, but life had knocked him down so many times that he lost motivation to start. That moment stayed with me. I realised how many people out there have the ability to work and grow — but no opportunities, no support, and no one willing to give them a chance.

So I decided to build something that might one day give people like him a way forward.
Something with purpose.
Something that mattered.

I didn’t have much.
No funding. No fancy marketing. Not even proper flyers — they were printed at home on a basic printer 🖨️, unprofessional, but they did the job. Because at the start, all that mattered was getting started.

From that bucket and ladder, we grew into a fleet of 3 vehicles 🚐🚐🚗, taking on work across the North East and building a reputation for graft, honesty, and resilience.
The dream was becoming real: a business built to employ people in tough situations and help them turn their lives around.

Then came the hardest chapter.

For over two years, we suffered repeated targeted attacks and criminal damage 🔧💥, destroying our vehicles and costing thousands. Our fleet was smashed. Our progress wiped out. We were forced back to square one.

Most businesses would’ve shut their doors.
But we didn’t.
We refused. 💪

Today we’re down to one van, but we’re still standing, still serving our customers, still rebuilding, and still fighting for a vision bigger than ourselves.

Every month feels like a question —
“Is this the breakthrough?”
or
“Is this the moment it collapses?”

But the truth is… I didn’t survive all these challenges for nothing.
I kept going because the mission is bigger than the struggle:

🌟 To give opportunities to the forgotten.
🌟 To help people rebuild their lives.
🌟 To show that resilience beats circumstance every time.

If it wasn’t for that mission, the setbacks would’ve broken me.
But my vision is strong.
And I will continue until it becomes reality. 🔥

we praise resilience, determination, and anyone fighting to change their life for the better. 💯👏

🌟🌟🌟MILLER'S TIME TO SHINE 🌟🌟🌟

🚐 4 HOURS TURNED INTO 24… BUT WE’RE BACK OUT WORKING 💪

What was meant to be a straightforward 4-hour drive down south turned into a full 24-hour recovery mission after our crankshaft pulley snapped mid-journey.

Massive respect to the first recovery teams who attended — absolutely spot-on service and professionalism.

Then came the challenge… one call handler passed on the wrong information and sent a truck too small for the weight of the van.

The driver was a young lad, keen to impress and determined to try loading it anyway. Because it was through insurance, we gave it a go — but once the weight became obvious, we stepped in. We explained clearly:

He risked snapping his truck

It would be his licence on the line

And the damage would’ve been serious

To his credit, he listened. A bigger truck was called, and the job was done safely and correctly.
Sometimes people don’t know the risks until someone takes the time to explain — fair play to him for taking it on board.

After that, a few absolutely top-tier companies got us lifted from Birmingham back up to the North East 🙌
Van is now fixed, running, and back on the road.

Because while you’re sleeping…
Your competitors are planning ahead.
We don’t stop.

⚠️ Missing Ladders – Please Return ⚠️

To the helpful individual who recently looked after our ladders at ASDA Old Fold (just off the Felling Bypass) — it seems you may have taken them home for safekeeping.

The CCTV shows you placing them in the back of your estate car. We assume this was just a misunderstanding and you simply forgot to drop them at the store entrance before leaving. 😉

The car park is monitored by ParkingEye and for insurance purposes this has been reported — however, we’d much prefer to resolve this with a friendly return instead of any unwanted knock at the door.

Please just bring the ladders back to ASDA Old Fold and let the team know you were keeping them safe. No hard feelings — accidents happen.

Let’s get them home 🪜✅

The Side of Business Nobody Tells You About

When you see a business on the outside — a van with a logo, a clean job finished, maybe even a website — it looks simple. Professional. Put-together.

But here’s the truth no one tells you before you start your own:

✅ You’ll wear every hat. I’ve had to be the accountant, marketer, solicitor, and problem solver. At one point I even learned welding just to keep the business moving.

✅ Cash flow can break you. Customers delay payments, but your bills, staff, and insurance don’t wait.

✅ Paperwork takes over. I even had to hire an accountant just to make sure everything was right — because one mistake can cost more than you can afford.

✅ You’ll face battles you never expected. Contracts, insurance disputes, unfair treatment — I’ve seen it all. Recently, after an accidentwith our van, I left it outside an address overnight while waiting for the insurance garage. Within 24 hours, it was reported as “abandoned.”

For clarity: this van was not abandoned. It was temporarily placed at a trusted address while I was working away, due to the accident management centre being closed over the weekend. The van is under insurance investigation and will remain secure until repairs are carried out. At no point has it been left without responsibility or intention to collect.

If you’re wondering why our services have been limited, this is the reason. Although this has gone on for several months, I’m hopeful it will be resolved as soon as possible so we can return to full capacity.

👉 To those who were quick to judge — always be curious, but never cast judgment.
👉 And for those who look with jealousy — remember, karma comes back tenfold.

These challenges don’t just hit your business — they test your resilience, your reputation, and your peace of mind.

And yet… if I was asked: “Would you do it all again, knowing what you know now?”
My answer would be yes.

Because whether you believe in God, the divine, or the one true ruler — you’re given a vision for a reason. You wouldn’t be given the vision if He didn’t think you could handle the mission.

Today something powerful happened while I was taking down an old B&Q unit.
As I worked, a butterfly landed on my hand. Not just any butterfly – a Peacock butterfly, with its striking eye-like markings.

I carried it outside to safety, thinking that was the end of it. But it wasn’t.
It followed me back inside… and stayed above my head.

That moment hit me hard. Spiritually, butterflies represent transformation, renewal, and new beginnings. The Peacock butterfly in particular is a symbol of protection, vision, and rebirth.

And that’s exactly what my journey with Miller’s Time To Shine is all about.

Taking what others might overlook and giving it a second life.

Helping people who’ve been through tough times find new opportunities.

Building a business that protects our environment, renews communities, and transforms challenges into something positive.

The butterfly reminded me: I’m not just running a business.
I’m building something that carries meaning, growth, and hope – for myself, for others, and for the future.

🦋 Sometimes the universe sends us signs. And when it does, I believe it’s worth paying attention.
