Should carpet cleaning be cheap ?
When i first started, around 15 years ago, I was very cheap. My charge for a room was £15 each, but i was using basically a diy machine, which costs me £150. I didn't have any knowledge about fibres or cleaning products or stain removal. I was just winging it and hoping for the best. Over the years, I have done numerous training courses and upgraded machines numerous times.
The cost for me to do all this is in excess of over £50,000 😵 yes really!!
For a man that purely concentrates on acquiring domestic customers, that's a lot of money, time, and effort.
Today, I have the best machinery products and knowledge money can buy. As a result, my overheads cost a lot more than someone just starting with an electrical machine. An electrical machine weighs only a few kilos. My machine weighs over a ton. This means I need a bigger van, and because of the weight, it uses a lot more fuel. The weight also wears tires and brakes a lot faster. My machine also runs on fuel, which costs me more to clean your carpets. I also have 400 litres of water to fill every day at a cost to me.
My machine can also cost hundreds to a few thousand to repair if i do the repairs my myself.
It can cost a considerable amount more if i took it to shop to be repaired
An electrical machine uses your electricity, your water, and costs only a few pounds to a couple of hundred to repair. A few months back, I had to spend £3000 on a repair, which meant I didn't earn any profit for that month.
The recent rise in fuel price should mean I need to raise my prices, yet again, I didn't do that. Which is having a dramatic effect on how much I earn.
Low-cost carpet cleaners usually have very weak and underpowered machines. They use your water and electricity at a cost to you. They usually have no training or knowledge and are just winging it.
I've heard customes tell me, the last cleaner charged £25 and they were there only 15 minutes. The carpets took days to dry and look worse than before.
I've been doing this for 15 years, and it has been a real struggle to get to where I am. I always worried if I could have done better, could I have got the carpets dryer, or could I have made them look brighter , etc. I did all the training and machinery upgrades for my own piece of mind and for you, so you can trust that you get the best results every time.
A lot of people think i earn a lot of money, i really don't!!
a lot of people think i'm a rip-off. If i was all about the money, i would go back to using an electrical machine and earn more money.

I charge what i need to charge so i can keep my business going.
