This customer wanted a wildlife pond but also wanted to keep costs sensible.

So rather than buying everything new, we sourced a free preformed pond and free natural stone to edge it. The larger rocks were placed around the pond just as the customer requested, helping it blend naturally into the garden.

To keep costs down even further, the stone edging was laid without cement, giving it a more natural look while making it easy to adjust or add to in the future.

It’s amazing what can be achieved with a bit of planning, hard work and recycling materials that might otherwise have gone to waste.

Another transformation completed!

This tired, overgrown border had become difficult to maintain and was full of old roots, compacted soil and w**ds.

🌱 Removed all vegetation and excavated the area.
🚜 Barrowed the spoil to the rear garden.

✅ Installed a quality w**d control membrane.

🟩 Installed heavy-duty gravel grids to stop the stone sinking and spreading.

🪨 Finished with fresh decorative gravel for a clean, low-maintenance finish.

A much tidier entrance that’s easy to keep looking good and should stay that way for years to come.

This is a hedge I’ve been maintaining for the past couple of years.

This visit, the customer decided they wanted to go a step further and have the top reduced much harder to stop it overhanging the wall and road.

The aim was to reclaim the shape while keeping the hedge looking tidy and healthy, so it still provides great privacy but sits much better within the boundary.

Every hedge is different, and sometimes a customer’s requirements change over time. The key is making those changes while leaving a neat, professional finish.

Really pleased with how this one turned out. The customer needed something that couldn’t be achieved with off-the-shelf fence panels, so everything was built from scratch to fit the space—including the bespoke gate.

Taking the time to build it this way gives a much neater finish and makes the most of the area.

Back at Haviland Cottage, Bonchurch today for one of my regular customers 🌿✂️
