Nissan R35 GTR booked in for a chemical decontamination, clay, paint enhancement with ceramic coating to paintwork and engine bay clean.

This was a new customer recommended to use
by an existing customer. Wanting to get there beautiful GTR machine polished up to lift the gloss levels and enhance the shine, then to protect it with a ceramic coating.

First up was to clean the engine bay using a mix of de greaser and pre wash in spray bottles and with a selection of brushes and cloths it was agitated to loosen up the dirt and grime. Then using damp cloths it was wiped clean.
Next was to give the wheels and brake calipers a clean, this was done by first soaking them in a foaming wheel cleaner, left to dwell.
Whilst that was dwelling the arches and tyres was cleaned in a APC solution with a soft hog hair brush.
Wheels, tyres and arches fully rinsed, then the wheels got soaked in iron out remover to remove any bonded on iron/brake contamination. This was followed by another rinse.
APC solution then applied to the door shuts, fuel flap and boot shut and left to dwell.

The car was pre-washed using a citrus foaming pre-wash, sprayed over the car via a foam cannon lance, left to dwell and soak to soften up dirt etc.
Soft hog hair brushes which are used to get into all the shut lines, gaps and badges this was followed by rinse down of the whole car.
Next was to wash the car using the two bucket wash method with grit guards in place. Using an ultra soft plush microfibre wash mitt and a pure shampoo the car was washed top down and then rinsed off.

Next it was time to start the decontamination stage to get that paint feeling smooth and completely clean of decontamination and to start the removal of any old protection.
First was to fully de-tar the car, another rinse and then to use a fallout remover/iron out spray to get rid of any ferrous in the paint this was sprayed and left to bleed the contamination out, followed by another rinse.

This was then followed up with a clay bar, clay picks up and pulls the dirt and contamination that is embedded into the paint it’s important to do this stage to make sure the surface is prepped ready for the protection products to bond properly, this ensures the paint is fully contamination and product free, leaving it feeling as smooth as glass and ready for the next stages.
Then the engine bay, paintwork, glass and wheels all got air dried using a filtered air dryer this helps to remove a lot of excess water off the paintwork, gets all the water out all the panel gaps, badges, grills etc with ease and also prevents drying marring this was followed up with a ultra soft, large drying towel that was laid on the paintwork to absorb any excess bits of water.

Now it was ready for machine polishing stage. This was given a paint enhancement polish using a medium cut with high gloss finish compound on heavy polishing pads with various sizes from 1.5” through to 5.5” coupled with the Rupes Bigfoot, Vertool forced polisher and a DA with Spot pad.
Working in manageable sections on a panel at a time over the whole car this would leave a deep, glossy finish with looking sharpe and fresh now under the LED detailing colour temperature lights and outside in the spring sunshine.

Next the paintwork was given a full wipe down using a panel wipe solution to ensure any polishing oils, residue etc was all removed not only does this ensure the panel is fully prepared for the ceramic coating to be laid down on to allowing a perfect bond to the paintwork it also ensure that the paint work is pure and that no oils or residue are masking the finish of the paintwork.

Now it was time to apply ceramic coating to the paintwork.
This was applied using a suede cloth and applicator block working a panel at a time.
Each panel is lightly buffed after the coating is applied and after the whole car is coated it’s left to fully cure for 10 mins.

Wheels sealed with a wheel sealant.

Engine bay was hand polished to all the painted areas. Then the plastics dressed and rubbers were dressed using a rubber, vinyl and plastic dressing.

Exhausts cleaned, de-tarred and metal polished.
Tyres dressed after the wheel coating had been buffed off using a non silicone, dry to touch rubber and plastic dressing.

That was the Nissan R35 GTR finished, now the paint had a deep, glossy finish to it and deep shine under the led lights and in the sunlight. Paintwork looking sharpe once again and all being nicely protected.
