After spending a few hours stuck at the bottom of a chimney flue, this pigeon was very grateful for a free lift on my brush back out the top of the chimney pot. After a few minutes for a rest and to get his bearings he flew off hopefully with no lasting affects to his ordeal.
A bird guard was then fitted to prevent any further issues.

Sweeping, cowl fitting and integrity testing in the beautiful Sussex sunshine.......and all the time being careful not to disturb the jackdaw nesting in the unused flue.

Today’s rescue......This jackdaw spent a few days stuck in a chimney so was to weak to fly! So it’s off to Sussex Wildlife Rescue for this one till he/she gets some strength back and can be released.
This happens a lot at this time of year as they attempt to build there nests.
Give me a call if you suspect any bird has fallen in to your chimney.

Do you have a fireplace or log burner at home? If you do, then this reminder is for you!

Following a chimney fire in , , last night, crews are encouraging people to ensure their chimneys and flues are in top condition by having them inspected and swept at least once a year for coal, and twice if you're burning logs.

Also, avoid overloading the grate or building fires too high, and always make sure to dispose of ash safely.
