“When I was a child I used to knock on doors either on my own or with a friend. We had buckets and sponges and washing up liquid I pinched from my parents sink and offered car washes to neighbours. We could just about reach the roof but thoroughly enjoyed what we did with an added bonus of extra pocket money. Eventually I got my regular customers, which led to being approached by a local car-washing guy (who was setting up his own business) to work for him. He used to buzz me around to customers in his mark 2 Es**rt, good times.”
