Most of my work is indoors, so it makes a nice change when the Cornish weather actually turns up for once 😎

⚠️ Not All Upholstery Cleaning Is the Same ⚠️

Today I cleaned this electric recliner sofa, and while it wasn’t heavily soiled, this job highlights something really important 👇

When cleaning furniture with built-in electrics, extra care is essential.

As you can see in the photos, I fully protected the control panel and electrics before cleaning to ensure:

✅ No moisture gets into sensitive components
✅ No risk of damage to your recliner system
✅ Your furniture is cleaned safely as well as effectively

Anyone can clean a sofa… but protecting your investment while doing it properly is what really matters.

🚫 Why Steam Cleaners Aren’t Great for Natural Stone Floors 🚫

Natural stone (marble, limestone, travertine, sandstone, slate, etc.) is porous and usually protected with a sealer. Using a steam mop or steam cleaner can actually do more harm than good:

🔸 Breaks down sealers – Steam weakens or strips the protective layer, leaving your floor vulnerable.
🔸 Drives moisture into the stone – Water forced into pores and grout can lead to staining, mineral deposits, or even cracking as it cools.
🔸 Can dull the surface – Sensitive stones like marble or limestone may etch or lose their polished finish.

✅ When is steam OK?
Porcelain and ceramic tiles are non-porous, manufactured surfaces. They don’t absorb steam, so it’s generally safe – just take care around grout lines.

💡 Best practice for natural stone:
✔️ Stick to a pH-neutral stone cleaner (like Prynnclean’s Tile & Stone Cleaner).
✔️ Save steam cleaners for hard, non-porous tiles.

Another beautiful Victorian tiled floor brought back to its former glory! 🔥

This stunning floor had lost its spark under layers of old sealers and grime. I stripped it back, removed the rust spots, gave it a deep clean, and finished with a colour-enhancing sealer to protect and really make those colours pop!

The results speak for themselves — and the customer was over the moon with the finish.
