Useful piece of advice

Common causes of chimney fires are:

- Burning unseasoned wet wood
- Infrequent sweeping and cleaning
- Overnight burning or smouldering wood for long periods in wood stoves

This is useful advice, except that it would be better to state to have your chimneys swept in the summer rather than leaving it until the Autumn.
