One thing starting my business has given me is freedom to be the mother I’ve always wanted to be. A present mother, a loving mother, a mother that’s not stressed about the next meal or the next shopping trip. I wouldn’t trade starting my cleaning business for the world. 🌎

Limescale can form on any appliance where water is frequently heated. Sink, coffee pots & kettles. It is a deposit of calcium carbonate and is especially common with hard water. Common kitchen vinegar is a great help for descaling kitchen appliances.

The acidity of vinegar, which is acetic acid with a fairly strong pH around 2.4, dissolves the calcium. To de-scale my coffee pot, I cut vinegar in half with water and fill the reservoir. I turn it on and let it run about a half cycle, and then turn it off for 15 minutes so that the vinegar water can act in the tubing as well. Then I turn it back on to finish the cycle. I dump out the solution in the coffee pot and run another cycle of plain water through the system to rinse it. I do this about every six months.

Vinegar can be used elsewhere to de-scale, but do bear in mind that it is a fairly strong acid and can corrode metals. So it should not be left to sit too long on surfaces, and always rinsed off.
