🧤 The Importance of Wearing Gloves in Professional Cleaning 🧤
As cleaning professionals, our job is about much more than making a property look clean. It’s about maintaining hygiene, preventing cross-contamination, and protecting both ourselves and our clients.
Lately, I’ve noticed an increasing number of cleaning videos on social media showing people cleaning toilets, bathrooms, heavy grime, and even dealing with bodily fluids without wearing gloves. While showcasing our work online can be a great way to promote our businesses, it’s equally important that we promote safe working practices.
Gloves should always be worn when cleaning toilets, bathrooms, and when handling bodily fluids such as blood, vomit, or diarrhoea. They provide a vital barrier against bacteria, viruses, and other harmful pathogens that can easily be transferred between surfaces, properties, and even into our own homes.
Just as important is changing gloves regularly. Using the same pair of gloves to clean a toilet and then moving on to a sink, changing bedding, or wiping other surfaces can lead to cross-contamination. Fresh gloves should be used whenever moving between tasks where contamination may occur.
Gloves also protect our skin from the effects of cleaning chemicals. Repeated exposure to detergents, disinfectants, and other cleaning products can cause irritation, dermatitis, and in some cases, chemical burns.
Wearing gloves isn’t just about personal protection it’s about professionalism, hygiene, and safeguarding the health of our clients, our families, and ourselves.
Safe cleaning practices should always be just as important as the final result. ✅
