Just a reminder to all customers that this is a pay-as-you-go service, so keeping accounts up to date helps us maintain an uninterrupted service for everyone.

Accounts that fall behind by 3–4 cleans may be temporarily suspended until payment is brought up to date. This gives around two months before any action is taken, which I feel is more than fair.

Please don’t take this personally — most customers are absolutely fine, and this only applies to a small number of accounts. Unfortunately, experience has shown that the longer payments are left, the less likely they are to be settled.

Thank you to everyone who pays on time — it’s genuinely appreciated and helps keep the business running smoothly.

4:45pm and some streets still haven’t been emptied. Unfortunately, the bin crews are not usually paid overtime, and they are expected back at the yard by around 2:45pm after completing their tip runs. In most cases, crews finish up around 2pm.

Some agency staff may work overtime, but there are very few agency drivers available, so it’s unlikely that any missed bins will be collected later today.

Unfortunately, due to roadworks on Farm View Road and grange view road, Kimberworth, The bin men have not been able to access the middle section of the road and therefore we could not clean the 12 bins in that area today. We apologise for the inconvenience and will ensure they are cleaned on our next visit.
It’s out of our hands we work to the bin lorry’s schedule

Unfortunately this issue has been ongoing for several months for us.

Over the last week, several customers mentioned they were not receiving our emails, so I investigated further and discovered that more than half of customers had not been receiving invoice emails due to a problem with the Squeegee email provider.

Including our bulk email price rise 🤦‍♂️

Thankfully, Squeegee have now fixed the issue, which is excellent news. However, it has understandably created a large number of emails and messages for us to work through.

PLEASE DO NOT rely solely on email notifications to know when your bins have been cleaned.

You will always be able to tell we have been because:
• Your bin will have a clean fresh bag
• The bin will smell fresh and cleaned
• The bin will be returned back to your property

Important update-small price increase & payment information

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you are all well.

Last month I sent out an email and posted on Facebook regarding a small price increase. Unfortunately, the email provider used by the Squeegee system failed, meaning many customers did not receive the message. This issue affected all users of the system, not just us, and has now been resolved.

I just wanted to make everyone aware that we have recently added a small 50p increase to each account. Even if you have two bins cleaned, the increase is still only 50p in total.

This wasn’t a decision I wanted to make, but unfortunately the running costs of the business have increased significantly. Fuel costs alone have risen sharply recently, alongside increases in other business expenses including admin and software systems we rely on daily.

I’d also like to apologise for delays replying to messages and emails recently. The amount of admin involved in managing payments and customer accounts has become extremely time-consuming, especially when dealing with missed or incorrect payments.

Please bear with me while I work through messages — I will get back to everyone as soon as possible.

A quick reminder regarding cleans and payments:

• Please do not rely solely on email notifications to know when your bins have been cleaned. You will know they have been cleaned because:

The bin will have a fresh bag

It will smell clean

It will be returned to your property

• Every clean is recorded accurately on Squeegee with the date and time. If a bin is not cleaned, it is marked as skipped and no charge is added.

At the moment, most customers pay by bank transfer, and while I truly appreciate every payment, managing a large number of individual transfers each day creates a huge amount of admin work. Mainly Building accounts & disputing cleans from months ago, Occasionally payments are missed, underpaid, or sent without a reference, which then requires extra time checking accounts and contacting customers. It’s a long unnecessary process
It hasn’t helped squeegee’s emailing system been down

Because of this, I will now be encouraging more customers to move over to GoCardless/direct debit payments where possible. This helps reduce admin and keeps everything simple and stress-free for both sides.

However, if you currently pay promptly by cash or bank transfer and your account is kept up to date, then please carry on as normal. You guys keep it simple,

For customers who regularly forget payments or build up balances, GoCardless or advance payment will now be required to continue the service. It’s important funds are available on bin cleaning day as failed transactions still charge their fee
any accounts over £10 will not be cleaned

📢 Customer Notice

We’ve recently noticed that some confirmation emails are failing to send after a bin clean has been completed.

Normally, as soon as your bin has been cleaned and the job is marked as completed on our iPad through Squeegee, an email confirmation is automatically sent. We use Squeegee because it’s an excellent system for managing thousands of customers, keeping accurate records of cleaning dates and even arrival times.

Please don’t rely solely on the email confirmation, as occasional technical issues can happen. The easiest way to tell your bin has been cleaned is that it will be returned to your property looking and smelling fresh.

We are also in the process of moving all online payers over to GoCardless, fully linked with our Squeegee Cleaner Planner app. This will help eliminate payment mistakes for both ourselves and our customers.

Here’s how it works:
✔️ We complete the clean and mark the job as done
✔️ Squeegee automatically requests payment from your bank
✔️ Once payment is received, your account updates automatically

No clean = no payment taken.

Please ensure sufficient funds are available on your scheduled bin cleaning day, as rejected payment requests still incur a charge (from GoCardless not me)

A few weeks ago we tried a new scent for our bins… and honestly, it went down like a lead balloon 😅
It just wasn’t strong enough for Wheelie Clean Rotherham.

We normally stick to our tried-and-tested Jared sweets scent — strong, smelly, and long lasting 👌

Every now and then we’ll try a litre tester, always looking for something even better. With fragrances costing anywhere from £50–£200 per litre, we had to use it up regardless!

BUT… we’ve now tried another new scent and wow 😍
It smells lovely and strong — now we’re just hoping it lasts as long as it smells.

Our original scent can still be smelt 2 weeks later, so let’s see if this one can match it 👀

We will give it a month tester ideally we could do with a few 10/10 flavours to keep mixing it up 💚💚💚

Good evening everyone,

Just a quick update — this weekend I’ll be spending time catching up on emails and messages. Massive apologies to anyone still waiting for a reply.

I had finally managed to get on top of admin recently, but unfortunately I was repeatedly let down by my previous runner not turning up for work. Bin cleaning is very much a two-person job, especially on busy streets where having someone bringing and returning bins saves a huge amount of time.

When I’m working alone, everything takes considerably longer as I have to collect the bins, clean them, and return them myself. This meant I wasn’t able to complete as much work each day, which then created a backlog of around 50 messages and emails daily. Between longer working hours and ongoing issues with missed streets and inconsistent collections from the bin lorries, admin unfortunately fell behind.

This weekend’s priority is getting fully caught up on all messages and emails from the last few weeks.

On a positive note, our new runner Harrison has been absolutely brilliant. He’s already getting up to speed quickly and really enjoying the work. Today alone we completed the round an hour quicker than before 💪 Not having to constantly supervise has been a huge relief.

We’ll also be getting back into the routine of knocking for cash payments where needed or ideally leave in that safe space for us to quickly collect, Recently I’ve avoided doing this simply to save time and complete more work each day. Ideally, payments are best made online through GoCardless, especially for customers who struggle to keep on top of payments.

We also no longer allow accounts to build up beyond £12 (two months of cleans). A big thank you to everyone who settled outstanding balances today after the payment reminders — it’s finally allowed me to get the van booked in for repairs as we have been in the back up van the last month
Luckily we are in a position to have that spare van, it really is needed!

Fingers crossed Simon is back soon and both vans are back on the road. I’m confident that myself, Simon, and Harrison will make a brilliant team moving forward 💚💚💚
