Earwax (Medical term: Cerumen) is a natural substance created by 2 glands located in the outer third of your ear canal.
Contrary to popular belief, the purpose of earwax is actually to keep your ear clean and hygienic. However, too much earwax can lead to symptoms of:
- Hearing loss
- Blocked sensation/occlusion
- Tinnitus
- Dizziness
- Itching/irritation
In the UK, impacted/excessive earwax affects 2.3 million people each year which then has to be removed. But since September 2020, GPs have stopped providing earwax removal services.
For this reason ‘Ear Specialists’ was conceived by a Clinical Audiologist to help the local community. Ear Specialists strives to provide outstanding and personalised care by putting our patients first.
