From the dales to the docks, it’s been a busy week!

An emergency call out to a lady in Masham this morning after she had been kept awake all night by strange noises in her loft. After a full inspection of said loft I found overwhelming evidence of rodent activity! 🐀 I’ll soon have the situation resolved

I always like to keep the diary free for call outs on a Monday, today’s been crazy busy. Finally got finished off in masham with a big old moon in the sky for company. Keeping my customers satisfied! 😊 what a day to be out and about in the dales

A busy wasp nest to start the week off! As with so many jobs I get called to, the home owner knew there was an issue but thought they weren't doing any harm.
On Sunday morning the wasps broke through and filled the room below. Luckily no one was stung and I was able to treat the nest this morning. This leaves the customer needing the ceiling overboarding and skimming.
So happy to be able to sort it, just wish they had called sooner so it didn't escalate to this level

What a day we had on Monday! I was called out to a swarm of honey bees 2 weeks ago, getting into a vent in the wall of a house. We hoped they would move on in their own time but no such luck! Yesterday we set about extracting them to move to our apiary at home.
We located them inside by using thermal imaging and a stethoscope! We decided to go in through the bedroom wall instead of putting expensive scaffolding up and going in from the outside.
Once we broke in through the bedroom wall, the amount of comb we found was unbelievable- the bees had made all of this over just 2 weeks!! Loads of eggs, grubs, capped brood and an unbelievable amount of honey 🍯
We used the bee vac to extract the bees and even managed to find the queen! She was carefully caged and taken to safety with the others.
The comb and honey was removed and the wall disinfected and sanitised, pheromone disruptors were inserted to prevent bees returning in the future. The wall was put back together and is ready for decorating 😊

I always try to keep costs down on these sorts of jobs, it’s more important to keep the bees safe. Thankyou to Mike who came to help me with this, too big a job for just one person.
