Last night what I lecture my customers on happened to me.
As a cleaner theres nothing you want to do less then clean when you get home, despite knowing the risks id allowed the grease to build up in my own oven.

As my wife was cooking roast potatoes, I opened the oven to get them out, the oxygen allowed in with the heat and grease caused spontaneous ignition and within seconds my oven was alight.
The oven liner I had in my oven meant the grease had pooled creating the perfect catalyst for a fire.

Immediately my wife got out children and animals outside as I rang the firebrigade. Who arrived within minutes.

Luckily no lasting damage, a lecture from the firemen and some humble pie later and ill be cleaning our oven today.

Grease spills can be incredibly dangerous and cause fires. And I learnt this the hard way.

Please in the event this happens to you DO NOT put anything on the flames, get everyone out and ring 999.

We were very lucky.

Today I'm running the Bournemouth half marathon, this is my prep run before the London marathon next year. Doing it now means I've got 6 months to improve on the areas I need too.

I'm still raising money for Alzheimers UK so anything you can donate for today would be amazing. Its the same fundraising page as my London marathon one as its all in one.

The furtherst I've run so far is 7 miles. When you see me walking funny tomorrow this is why!

Noone likes hearing the C word when the kids have only just gone back to school. But it is creeping up on us. 🎄🎁 Why not get your oven booked in now so it's one less thing to worry about.
During October we will also be donating 5% of every single oven, 10% of every double and 15% of every range to Alzheimers UK which is a charity close to our hearts here at Sparkling Clean :)

I've been called "just a cleaner" many times.
I've put training, money, equipment and hours into my job. I've sacrificed spending time with family to help customers or BnB owners.

I'm proud to be "just a cleaner" because I know I'm so much more then that!

And we completed it!

26.2 miles.
10.05 hours total.
8 hours 41 minutes walking time.

Yes I beat my time with Jake last year, he was the one who slowed us down last year 🤣

But whats important is the reason we did this.

26.2 miles, and I can tell everyone my feet are sore, my legs ache, it was hard. There was so so many steps.
But I can tell you that.

My grandma couldn't, she couldn't tell anyone how much pain she was in because she had dementia. She had sepsis and couldn't tell anyone about that.
10 days she lived in pain because she didn't have a voice because it was taken away from her by this disease.

So please the last push for anything you can donate.

Let's raise as much as we can for Alzheimers UK. Let's see if we can atleast find some prevention, or some treatment for this awful disease.
