🌟 Today, on Time to Change Day in Wales, and we're reflecting on our commitment to mental health awareness and breaking the stigma. In 2023, we pledged to be open about mental health in the workplace, and it's something we work hard to do every day at Mynydd Cleaning & Maintenance Ltd.
Did you know that mental health issues affect a significant number of people in Wales? Recent research indicates that six in ten adults in Wales (60%) experienced anxiety that interfered with their daily lives in the previous two weeks.
As a business owner with long-term depression and anxiety, I know how hard it can be to stay motivated some days. Medication helps me manage my mental health, but running this business gives me a sense of purpose. It gives me a reason to wake up every day and something meaningful to work towards, especially on the tough days. It’s not always easy, but having this focus is an essential part of my mental well-being. This is why we strive to create an environment where employees living with mental health conditions can not only gain employment but thrive in it. We actively support our team’s wellbeing and ensure that their mental health is taken into consideration, creating a workplace that helps them stay employed and feel valued.
Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the impact of mental health challenges. My father struggled with schizophrenia and addiction, which deeply shaped my understanding. It's why we're passionate about our specialised cleaning services — to support those in crisis and ensure they receive the help they need.
Today, let's continue the conversation and support each other. Mental health affects us all, regardless of age, background, or profession. Let's continue to create environments where everyone feels supported and able to thrive.
Together, we can create a workplace and community where mental health is understood, supported, and prioritized. 💚
