Nice little budget upgrade for a customer’s Peugeot 307. She was fed up with the old factory system gradually sounding worse so asked for some help.
So Today she’s been hooked up with a nice little Alpine unit that plays her cd’s, connects up with her phone and provides a much cleaner more powerful signal to some lovely British made Vibe Slick components for the front and coaxials for the rear doors.
She’s now one happy lady thats now looking forward to her drive to Scotland in a few weeks 😁🤘🏻

Custom installation of a system is often needed for keeping a nice clean look. This could be done by mounting a control unit inside a redundant sunglasses holder. Maybe a purpose built amp rack that’s tucked away, or even speaker pods made entirely from scratch. I’m always up for a bit of a challenge. You know what to do 👍🏻

So the A3 is done, for the time being. Now has an Alpine iLX702 taking care of the source and built-in navigation. Also nice and up to date with CarPlay and android auto.
Tucked away in the factory locations are a set of Alpine S Series component speakers providing lovely clear vocals and detailed instruments.
Then mounted firmly at the rear an Alpine PWE-S8 subwoofer. Fills out the sound perfectly taking the stress off the speakers and adding lovely crisp depth where needed.
All together with the added lighting it’s now a very comfortable place to be and enjoy music and driving.

Sound deadening makes a big difference, even to the most modest of setups.
Firming up the surface where speakers are mounted reduces resonance massively, this in turn gives far more clarity and improves bass response.
Ideally the more sound deadening the better.
The first picture is of a Corsa I applied localised deadening to and the second is a VW T5 that I covered the whole door panel. When it comes to sound treatment the world is your oyster.

Three different subwoofers for different applications.
First a little 8inch powered under seat sub. Packs a lovely punch and adds really nice warmth to your music. I installed this into the front captain seat of a VW T6. The loom had to be made so it the seat could still swivel.
Second a 10inch pre boxed sub running off a 5 channel amp. Bit bigger and so a bit more range but still easily tucked away. This is shown here in a motorhome where the customer asked me to install it next to the driver seat. (He likes his bass)
Last a big 12inch sub with its own mono block amp parked in the back of a customers E46 BMW. A lot more presence and more space required, however if setup right still lends itself to all types of music without overpowering the speakers.

I really enjoy a good night time drive, cosy in, fill the car with music and lose yourself in the drive.

What better way is there to improve this than being surrounded with some nice ‘light’ touches. Fitted some lovely footwell lights to a customers A3. They tie in really nicely with the factory red lighting.

The TT got some tidy lighting to make a feature of the classic design details. Also helps with the struggle of finding the door handle at night.......we’ve all been there.
