It’s hard running a business at the best of times.
When life throws something completely unexpected your way, it really shows you just how important the people around you are.
The last week and a half has been one of the hardest periods of my life. Whilst navigating the bereavement of my ex partner and helping my youngest child through an incredibly traumatic time, I’ve had to take a step back and focus on where I was needed most.
To my amazing staff and subcontractors – thank you. Thank you for stepping in, taking on extra work, covering shifts, supporting one another, and keeping Clean Slate Cornwall moving when I simply couldn’t. Your kindness, flexibility and dedication have taken an enormous weight off my shoulders, and I will never forget it.
To our wonderful clients – thank you for your patience, understanding and compassion. Whether you were happy to rearrange your clean, sent kind messages, or were one of the people who simply refused to let me come and work because you knew I needed to be with my family, your support has meant more than you know.
And to my family – thank you for carrying us through these last few days. For making sure my youngest child and I have been looked after, loved and supported when we’ve needed it most. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without you.
People often see the finished jobs, the business posts and the smiles, but behind every small business is a real person trying to balance work with whatever life throws at them. This week reminded me that we’ve built something far more valuable than a business – we’ve built a community of genuinely good people.
2026 has already been a year of huge personal change for me, and I have a feeling there’s still a lot more change to come. Right now, though, I’m simply taking one day at a time, appreciating the people around me, and feeling incredibly grateful.
From the bottom of my heart… thank you. ❤️
