Absolutely loved framing this fabulous painting by local artist John Shackell - it really needs to be seen in person - currently exhibited in our wonderful local art gallery Willow Gallery Oswestry - definitely worth a visit !

Recovery Truck (Commer Superpoise), Watercolour, airbrush and brush by John Shackell.

"A painting with a bit of history - Mid 1970’s in Gt. Malvern took photo of Commer recovery truck.

Mid 80’s had brief use of an airbrush and pump. Did background and front bumper. Then had to shelve it.

40 years later acquired my own airbrush and pump and in January’26 resumed and finished it.

‘Photorealistic’ but that was the intention. More about learning a technique and what you can do with it than anything else.

Postscript:- 3 days before completion saw the same model truck at a farm near Oswestry - first one since taking the original photo." - John
