In 2020, Clive Boase looked 25 years ahead at the future of UK pest management. Six years on, his PPC100 article is worth another look.

Back then, he described yellow-legged hornets being found here on several occasions. Since then, APHA has confirmed queens successfully overwintering in the UK and producing new nests.

Other themes will sound familiar: insecticide resistance, changes to our toolkit, wildlife adapting to urban life and the influence of a warming climate.

Alongside these campaigns, the BCC’s UK Cleaning Career Development Zone is helping people discover the breadth of roles and training available in cleaning and hygiene.

David calls for greater Government support for careers promotion, skills and recruitment across these vital industries.
