Following the introduction of new parking charges in North Berwick, any parking costs incurred when attending properties located on streets with paid parking will unfortunately need to be added to your invoice.

I contacted East Lothian Council to enquire about permits for service providers who regularly work in these areas and transport heavy equipment and cleaning products. Unfortunately, no suitable permit scheme is currently available.

If you have a driveway or other suitable private parking space that our cleaners can use during their visit, it would be greatly appreciated and would help avoid additional parking charges.

Fresh Start has some last minute cleaning appointments available tomorrow only, across East Lothian, from 9am onwards.

Why do these slots become available?

🧼 Last minute cancellations

Sometimes clients need to cancel due to illness or a change in plans. Rather than let those spaces go unused, we offer them to anyone who could use a helping hand, whether you’re a regular client or not!

🧼 Cleaner schedules with gaps –

Occasionally, a cleaner’s schedule isn’t full yet (for example, when waiting for new clients to start). Offering these appointments helps keep our team busy and ensures everyone gets the hours they need.

🧼 Extra work requests

From time to time, our cleaners ask for extra appointments, maybe to save for holidays, home improvements, or a rainy day.

Last minute appointments are a good way for me to support both my clients and my cleaners.

Please note, this doesn't mean we have lots of free availability. These slots come up due to unexpected changes, such as cancellations or schedule adjustments, rather than regular openings.

Client Notice -

As some of you are aware I will be undergoing laser eye surgery tomorrow and will have very limited vision until Friday afternoon, when my bandage contact lenses are removed.
My phone will be monitored by someone else, but please note that messages will take a little longer to be answered. If you have any last minute changes to your appointments, please contact your individual cleaner directly.

All cleaning schedules will continue as normal excluding my own appointments.

When your cleaner is away – annual leave, personal reasons, or illness

Annual Leave
Your cleaner will let you know as soon as any approved holiday dates are confirmed.
Where possible, we will try to reschedule your clean.
If another cleaner is available to cover, I would be in touch to let you know, though this isn’t always possible, we do try our best.

Personal Reasons / Illness
If your cleaner can’t make it due to illness or personal reasons, they will contact you as soon as possible.
They may offer to reschedule your appointment, depending on availability.
If another cleaner is available to complete your appointment, I would be in touch to arrange this.

Why we do it this way

First and foremost, this system helps ensure that no clients are missed and that any changes are communicated quickly.

Secondly, on many days, I am out completing client appointments, sometimes as early as 6.30am. During these times, I don’t use my phone while with clients, and some areas have limited or no signal. Allowing cleaners to contact clients directly helps ensure that you’re informed of any changes as early as possible.

And lastly, rescheduling can take time. It’s usually much quicker and easier for cleaners and clients to find a new slot that works for both of you when you’re speaking directly, instead of going through a third person.

This policy has been part of Fresh Start from the very beginning, not for convenience, but because it reduces the impact absences have on our clients and keeps things running smoothly.
