🏆 A huge congratulations to Chris Church of Elite Pest Solutions , our Defender® Installer of the Month winner for October! 👏

Chris is making room for a second trophy after first winning last November, and this lovely installation shows why! Using Defender® Curved Ridge Spikes along a freshly painted red roof and Wide Stainless Steel Spikes on the nearby wooden fence, he has given those perching pigeons a clear reason to move along, helping to keep the property looking its best. 🐦🏠

A big thank you to our guest judge, Gareth Davies of Pest & Property Solutions Limited , for giving his time and experience to choose this month’s winner. With so many brilliant entries, we certainly didn’t make it an easy job! Thank you to everyone who entered and shared their hard work with us. 🙌

Our NEW 40 mm Defender® Jaws has arrived in the warehouse, with locking jaws designed for pigeon proofing solar panel frames measuring 40 mm deep.

There is a useful option on the reverse too. The blank side can be siliconed into position on older or unusual sized panels whose warranty has expired, giving the installation that familiar sleek black finish.

Lovely entry by father and son team Phil and Jacob of ATLAS Environmental Services Ltd, working out of hours at a commercial site in Burnley, Lancashire, combining netting, spiking and a thorough clean to tackle several troublesome pigeon perching spots. 🛠️

Around 80 metres of Defender Wide Plastic Spikes were installed across the front signage, the height access vehicle barrier and selected pipework. The signage had become a particularly popular perch and was heavily soiled, so the team cleaned it before installation. With the lettering clearly visible again, the spikes will help prevent pigeons settling above it and starting that cycle of fouling all over again. ✨

High, sheltered pipework can offer pigeons a very comfortable place to perch, protected from the weather and away from the activity below. Spiking these areas removes the space they need to land and settle, helping reduce droppings along the main access walkway and keeping the routes used by staff and visitors cleaner.

Phil and Jacob also fitted a 45° angled netting system around the main roller shutter door to help prevent pigeons gaining access to the building to roost overnight.

A great Installer of the Month entry from Kurt at DirtDetox! 👏

Kurt has completed several jobs this month, including a smart Defender Jaws® installation around the perimeter of a domestic solar array. By locking the Jaws around the panels, he has stopped pigeons getting underneath to nest. Birds nesting below solar panels can damage wiring, restrict airflow and cause debris to build up, so it is well worth dealing with the problem early. ☀️

Kurt also installed around 50 metres of Defender Wide Stainless Steel Spikes around the edge of a lorry port. The owners wanted to stop birds perching on the outer edge and fouling the building, paths and lorries below. The spikes are positioned so birds can still land on the central roof, while the pins slightly overhang the edge to stop them getting a foothold there. 🚛

A lovely Installer of the Month entry from The Pest Company - York & North Yorkshire in Bingley 🐦

The team have fitted our Wide Plastic Spikes along the downpipes of this domestic property. It is easy to see why pigeons were choosing these spots. Tucked beneath the eaves and sheltered by the corner of the building, the pipes offer a dry, protected place to perch, high above the ground and with a good view of what is happening below to spot opportunist feeding spots and of course predators.

The problem is the mess left on the paths and patio underneath. Bird droppings are unpleasant to clean up, unhygienic and can create a slippery surface. By preventing the birds from settling on the downpipes, this neat installation should help break that endless cleaning cycle ✨
