🚨BEEKEEPERS NEED YOUR HELP🚨
The Asian Hornet (Vespa velutina), a highly invasive species that prey heavily on honeybees and native pollinators, threatening biodiversity and causing significant damage to beekeeping. A single colony can consume thousands of bees in a season, and they have no natural predators in the UK. They are smaller than native hornets, with velvety black bodies, orange faces, and yellow-tipped legs.
We have had Asian Hornet sightings as close as Runcorn and Oswestry so they are now a very real threat for local beekeepers.
🛑What can you do?🛑
If you suspect you have seen an Asian Hornet, it's vital that you report it. Report sightings immediately via the Asian Hornet Watch app.Its free to download and use the app and it helpfully shows you how to identify an Asian Hornet.
