It’s been a little while since we last posted, so I thought I’d give everyone a quick update on what’s been happening behind the scenes at Ollie Edward Services.
First of all, I managed to get away for a well-earned holiday, but since getting back it’s been straight back into it!
One of the biggest milestones is that my house sale has finally completed after what felt like forever. It’s been a huge relief to finally get everything over the line, although it’s meant plenty of paperwork and catching up on emails that built up while I was away.
As if that wasn’t enough, the mighty Peugeot van went in for its MOT… unfortunately it wasn’t the result we were hoping for. It’s now waiting to head into the garage for some much-needed attention.
Because all of this happened unexpectedly, I needed another vehicle quickly to keep bookings running without letting customers down. Thankfully I managed to pick up another van at a great price. It isn’t perfect, but it’ll do exactly what I need until the Peugeot is back on the road. To be honest, it’ll probably stay with us afterwards too, as it’ll be ideal for smaller jobs, subcontract work, collecting materials, or even taking bits to our caravan.
Behind the scenes, we’ve also been spending a lot of time redeveloping our website and refining the direction of the business. We’ve been looking at the services we offer, how we present them, and where we want to focus moving forward. I’m currently putting together a blog explaining everything in more detail, so keep an eye out as I’ll be sharing that soon.
Alongside all of that, I’ve also been working on a driveway refurbishment that I’m really excited to share. I’m holding off posting it for now because I want to put together a proper blog showing the whole process from start to finish. I think it’ll be worth the wait!
Today I was working in Mold carrying out a roof clean. The customer wanted a straightforward clean without a biocide treatment, and that’s absolutely fine.
At Ollie Edward Services we always tailor our work to the customer and, more importantly, to the roof itself. While we do offer complete roof cleaning and biocide treatment packages, applying chemicals or soft washing a roof isn’t always the best solution for every roof. Different roof tiles and natural slates can react differently, so choosing the right cleaning method is just as important as getting the roof clean.
Safety is another area where we never cut corners. The customer also requested that nobody walked on the roof, which suited us perfectly. We never walk on a roof unless it’s safe to do so and we have the correct access equipment, roof ladders or other suitable methods. Protecting both the roof and the people working on it will always come first.
We explained that without a biocide treatment, moss is likely to return over time because the spores haven’t been treated. However, we also respect our customers’ choices. Our job is to give honest advice, explain the options, and then carry out the work to the highest standard based on what the customer wants.
The end result looked fantastic, the customer was happy, and that’s what matters most.
Thanks to everyone who’s continued supporting the business. There’s plenty more to come over the next few weeks, including that driveway transformation, our website update, and a few exciting changes to the business, so keep an eye on the page!
Meet Pablo the Doblo and check out some photos from today’s job .🙂
