This gorgeous 7 series was booked in recently to refresh the ceramic coating. This consisted of one of our decon' washes to "unclog" the pores in the ceramic coating and restore the lost hydrophobic performance.

The process starts with our usual alkaline based pre-wash before moving on to a second acid based pre-wash to dissolve minerals that regular washing just cannot touch. The car is then treated to a generous application of iron fallout remover to dislodge any ingrained metallic contaminants before moving onto the contact wash using a specialised reset wash solution. The car is then treated with a ceramic topper if that coating requires one.

I recommend this process is carried out every 6 months for a daily driven car to keep your coating performing like new.

One of two pre-sale details carried out last week.
As well as a full engine bay wash, this lovely GTD received a full chemical decontamination and hand polish to make it pop in that special way that only red can. The whole lot was then sealed up with a 3-6 month paint sealant so the next owner can enjoy that for months to come.

A lot of time was also spent inside to ensure all the debris was removed from down the sides of the seats and often overlooked areas such as the spare wheel well. Before steam cleaning all the seats to highlight that lovely pattern.

A ceramic coating creates an ultra hydrophobic layer that repels dirt and brake dust making your wheels stay clean for longer and reducing the effort required when you do clean them. Not only that, but the coating also reduces the likelihood of contamination embedding itself in the alloy surface meaning they can be effectively cleaned without the use of harsh chemicals.

A quick video to show that you do indeed get what you pay for when it comes to ceramic coatings.

Across the bottom of your screen you will see the difference in water repellency of my 3 available full strength coatings. All coatings were applied on the same day 4 months ago.

The 2yr coating looks amazing in isolation but when put side by side with the longer lasting coatings shows just how much better things can get. The 5yr coating feels a bit slicker and repels the water a little bit quicker but the standout coating is the 7yr which feels amazingly slick and prevents the water from flooding the surface at all.

This 7yr coating also fares better when it comes to resisting damage from wash induced swirling due to its increased slickness and minor self healing ability with the aid of a heat gun or hot water.

That's the gorgeous E class all buttoned up. She needed compounding in a few areas but the majority of the car only needed a light polish to boost gloss levels before the CQUK coating was applied to protect the bodywork and alloy wheels from everything nature can throw at them.
