🌸 Cleaning Fairy Decluttering Tips
1. Start Small, Start Now
Don’t look at the whole house. Pick one drawer, one shelf, or one corner and spend 10 minutes there. Small wins add up.
2. The One In, One Out Rule
Every time you bring something new into your home (clothes, toys, dishes), let one item go. This keeps clutter from piling up.
3. Use the “Once a Month Sweep”
Once a month, open your cabinets and closet and remove 3–5 items you haven’t used or worn. Donate or toss them.
4. Give Yourself Boundaries
Set limits like “This basket is for blankets” or “This shelf is for mugs.” When it overflows, it’s time to declutter.
5. The 20/20 Rule
If you can replace it in 20 minutes for under $20, let it go. This helps stop the “just in case” clutter.
6. Decide Quickly
When in doubt, ask yourself: “Do I use this? Do I love this?” If the answer is no, it’s okay to let it go.
7. Donation Box Ready
Keep a box or bag in your closet for things you no longer need. Once it’s full, drop it off at a donation center.
8. Don’t Declutter Sentiment First
Start with easier categories like toiletries, pantry items, or clothing. Save sentimental items for last so you don’t stall.
9. Think Future, Not Past
Instead of holding onto items because of money spent or past memories, ask if it fits the life you’re living today.
10. Celebrate Progress
Every item gone is less weight on your shoulders. Snap a before-and-after picture to see how far you’ve come.
