Bird mess on your car? Do not leave it too long.

It may look like a small nuisance, but bird mess can damage your paintwork if it is left sitting on the surface, especially in warm weather. It can stain, mark, or even etch into the clear coat.

The worst thing you can do is rub it off with a dry cloth or tissue. Bird mess can contain grit and hard particles, which means wiping it across the paintwork can cause scratches or swirl marks.

The safer approach is to soften it first, gently lift it away, and clean the area properly afterwards.

If it has already left a dull mark, polishing may improve it, although not every mark can be fully removed. The sooner it is dealt with, the better.
