Rats are starting to become busy again, rats can often find their way into buildings via drains. Upon inspecting a property this afternoon I startled this large rat when lifting the manhole cover and it took refuge in the pipe! Check out the size of this wasp nest! Every now and then I come across a nest that makes me slightly nervous..this was one of them! As soon as the light went on they were out to warn me off! A swift in and out and the job was done. The wasps will be dead within several hours and then the nest can be safely removed. Wasps, wasps and even more wasps! This is one of the busiest summers ive seen in a while for wasps. There are some jobs which I simply could not do without the assistance of my Dog Luna, the bedlington whippet. I was called out urgently to a large rat in a boiler cupboard in a kitchen. The rat had accessed the kitchen via a open door and had spent the last couple of days stealing food from the cupboards and defecating throughout the kitchen, Only a matter of time until wires or water/waste pipes would be chewed. This rat required flushing out from behind the boiler with a long wire just for it to get up behind the lower kitchen cupboards which required more poking around to get it out. Without Luna's determination and ability to reach into tight voids removing this rat quickly wouldn't be possible. Moles are causing trouble all over the place! We are in breeding season for moles now but it's a relatively rare occurance to catch more than 1 mole (unless trapping over acres and acres) but 2 have been trapped from this cricket pitch today and the traps were only set yesterday! Rats have been really busy this winter and they're not showing much sign of slowing down as we move into spring! Here's a picture of a flexible pipe chewed out by rats at the back of a toilet in a restaurant, you can see plenty of droppings in the connecting drain. This situation will be rectified by the installation of a non return valve in the drain denying rodents future access to the vulnerable flexi pipe. Rats have also chewed through the drywall to raid a kitchen 2 storey's up! These critters will get anywhere if they can! I've also attached a picture of the aftermath of rat cannabilism! Yep, when a rat is killed in a trap, often other rats will consume the carcass. Free protein I guess! These traps were set last week at the same time. Goes to show it doesn't take them long to strip a carcass to skin and bone! If you have a problem with rats give me a call for fast, effective and affordable control.
