Due to the tight access, we carefully removed the door to get the appliances in and out safely. Once everything was installed and the job was complete, we re-fitted the door and left everything neat and ready to use. ✅

A tumble dryer had suffered a motor failure, so we supplied and fitted a brand-new replacement motor. After thorough testing, the dryer was back up and running, ready for everyday use.

* ✅ A washing machine had a blockage caused by coins, nails, and other debris. Once cleared and checked over, it was draining and operating perfectly again.

Industrial Freezer Call-Out – The Importance of Defrosting ❄️

We were recently called out to an industrial freezer in a school canteen after being asked to attend before the unit had been fully defrosted.
One of the first things we recommend when a freezer isn’t performing correctly is carrying out a complete defrost. Excessive ice build-up around the evaporator coil can restrict airflow and eventually prevent the evaporator fan motor from operating efficiently. Without sufficient airflow across the evaporator, the cabinet will struggle to maintain temperature, even though the refrigeration system itself may still be functioning correctly.

Following inspection, we also found that the door gasket had come away from the door. A damaged or loose seal allows warm, moisture-laden air to enter the cabinet, which significantly increases frost formation on the evaporator. Over time, this can overwhelm the unit’s defrost cycle, leading to excessive ice build-up, restricted airflow, reduced cooling performance, increased energy consumption, and unnecessary service call-outs.

This is a good example of why a full defrost should always be carried out before an engineer is called whenever possible. It allows the refrigeration system to be assessed under normal operating conditions and often helps identify the root cause of the fault, rather than just the symptoms.

Routine maintenance, checking door gaskets, and ensuring doors close correctly are simple preventative measures that can improve efficiency, reduce energy costs, and extend the lifespan of commercial refrigeration equipment.

🔧 Repair of the Week! 🔧
This week we repaired an LG side-by-side fridge freezer for a customer in Bradbury after it displayed a fault code.
After diagnosing the issue, we found the freezer fan had failed. We replaced the faulty fan, tested the appliance thoroughly, and it’s now back to running perfectly.
Another happy customer and another appliance saved from being replaced! 💪❄️

🔧 Repair of the Week 🔧
This week we repaired a built-in dishwasher in Eccles that was displaying a water fill error.

After diagnosing the fault, we found the issue was this tiny pressure switch.

Thankfully, it was just clogged with debris, so no replacement parts were needed. Once it was cleaned, the dishwasher was back up and running perfectly – all completed in less than an hour!

💡 Top tip: To help prevent this type of fault, always scrape food from plates before loading the dishwasher and clean the filters regularly. This helps stop food debris from blocking the pressure system and can save you from unnecessary repairs.

Kitchen upgrade complete! 🏡

Really pleased with how this washing machine fits into this kitchen in Urmston. It slots perfectly between the cabinets, leaves the worktop looking clean and uninterrupted, and the silver finish goes really well with the grey units. It looks like it was always meant to be there! 👌
