The customer for this job gave us a call about her property that had been raked out and repointed to a professional finish and she wanted the smeared pointing to be removed from the brick face.
When we turned up to do a demonstration we noticed it the brickwork was painted, the joints were not raked out enough, just skimmed over in most places and the mortar was rock solid a sure sign of too strong a mix.

We did the demo and removed the paint and smeared mortar restoring the brickwork to it's natural look.

We warned the home owner that despite not much pointing may fall out due to the mortar mix being too strong, that it has cracks in pointing and will fall out on its own in the near future.

We removed the mortar staining, paint and then decades of carbon from the brickwork. We are to rake out and repoint the property in Lime NHL 3.5 soon. This job is in the Stockport area.

Garden wall flaking paint removed and carbon build up removed. Once we removed the paint we found a limewash which was in areas.
We can also remove this but the customer didn't mind having traces of the limewash left on the brick.
We then raked out and repointed the walls.

A job in the area, the customer had taken down a small section of an outhouse which was painted inside.
We came in to remove the paint and clean the brickwork to restore it back to how it was when it was built. Raking out and repointing a small section in black mortar will need to be carried out, as the paint in those joints is quite far embedded.

An internal Sandblasting job we've nearly conpleted in the area.
Once finished and the build up of debris has been cleaned up the walls will be washed down removing the film of dust still stuck to the surface.

Although we never recommend Sandblasting external walls due to all the damage and issues it can cause.
Internally, Sandblasting masonry still takes the face of the surface but gives character to the surfaces being exposed.
But mainly it will not get wet and invite damp, which can lead to structural deterioration and freeze-thaw in winter.
