Absolutely disgusted to have a client refuse to pay the full agreed amount after myself and a colleague spent 7 HOURS doing a deep clean and going above and beyond.

Let’s make a few things clear:

The client agreed to a 7-hour clean. Because of that time limit, the blinds were NOT completed as there simply wasn’t enough time left after tackling the level of dirt and grime throughout the property.

Despite that, we STILL:• Cleaned an oven even though we are NOT professional oven cleaners• Removed coffee stains from walls and doors• Spent over 1.5 HOURS scrubbing thick grime from the shower• Carried out a thorough deep clean throughout the property

We worked hard from start to finish and I have plenty of photos to back up the condition we walked into and the work we completed.

People seem to forget cleaners are not magicians. You cannot expect a heavily neglected property to be transformed in limited hours and then refuse to pay because every single extra wasn’t done.

We are hardworking people trying to earn an honest living, and being treated like our time and effort are worthless is beyond disrespectful.

To other cleaners/self-employed workers: take photos, cover yourself, and know your worth.

The first time I took my daughter with me to clean, we finished the job and she said,
“That’s the most tired I’ve ever been.”

I looked at her and said,
“Now do that five days a week.”

Then come home cook dinner, Take care of your own house.

She looked at me and said,
“Absolutely not.”

And that’s the part people don’t see.

Cleaning is nonstop. You don’t really take breaks. You move the entire time and you don’t stop until the job is done. We do this five, six, sometimes seven days a week.

It’s hard on your body. Hard on your joints. And it’s exhausting.

But it’s not just physical work.

You have to know what products go on what surfaces. What can be damaged and what can’t. One wrong product can ruin a countertop, a floor, or a fixture.

That knowledge matters.

So when people say cleaners charge too much, they’re missing the reality of the work.

This isn’t easy money. This is skilled, physical labor.
