The SIA was really encouraged to read the Leading Article in The Times last night.

This column in the paper represents the views of the editorial board and it states:

"This newspaper bows to none in its hostility to pollution, as its clean-water and clean-air campaigns attest. But the owners of woodburners do not deserve to be pilloried. Modern stoves, used with wood that’s been correctly treated, are relatively clean and efficient, especially when the chimney has been scoured by a sweep; and wood, being renewable, is a more climate-friendly fuel than either gas or oil. At a time when energy costs have been rising the popularity of woodburners is not surprising."

You should have your chimney swept at least once a year. The SIA recommends choosing an NVQ qualified sweep.⁣
