Most people think pest control is about getting rid of pests.

The real job is stopping them coming back.

At Bespoke we use a simple three step approach called SEM.

𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 — we find where the problem has actually come from. Not a guess. A proper investigation. For rat problems that often means a CCTV drain survey, because rats come in somewhere and we find where.

𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 — we close the access. Proofing, blocking entry points, removing the conditions that caused the problem in the first place. Less reliance on chemicals. More focus on actually solving it.

A few weeks ago I posted a video about rats running around a courtyard in Welwyn Garden City. Today was the third visit of three, so come for a wander around to see what has happened since.

Two issues from a job yesterday — both completely avoidable, both guaranteed to cost more later:

1. Rats & Flexi Pipes
If rats have chewed through a flexi pipe behind your toilet, replacing it with another flexi pipe isn’t a fix — it’s a repeat booking.
Until the rat issue is properly dealt with, they’ll just come back and chew straight through it again.
Deal with the cause first, then fit something they can’t destroy in five minutes.

2. Inspection Chambers & Extensions
Building an extension over an inspection chamber and covering it up completely? Bad idea.
When (not if) there’s a blockage or issue, you’ve now got no access — which means disruption, extra cost, and a lot more mess than necessary.
Move it or install proper access. There’s no shortcut here.
