Azelaic acid is one of my most-used ingredients. This is how I think about matching strength to concern - and when to move up. SAVE it and share with a friend who needs azelaic acid in their life.

Dr Sam’s turns eight this year, and I’ve been thinking about what that means.

Eight years of trusting that skin health really does matter. Eight years of you championing a brand built on science, not noise. Eight years of patients, customers, and a community that chose to believe in what we were building, often before we had the proof to back it up.

Thank you. You spread the word when we were small, you trusted me with your skin, and you kept coming back.

Thank-you to the team who have made Dr Sam’s possible: you have shaped this brand more than you know. We started with a belief that when you change your skin, you change your life. Eight years in, it’s what keeps driving us forward. We’re only just getting started! 🚀

Nervous about using acids in summer? Azelaic acid is the one to look at first as it doesn’t increase photosensitivity or thin your skin’s barrier. Helpfully, it regulates excess pigment production while calming inflammation and clearing your pores. If your skin gets angry every summer, this ingredient deserves your attention.

There’s something about seeing your name on a screen at Waterloo that hits differently. Not because of the size or the location, but because it represents all of you who’ve backed this journey. From day one to now, with over 22,000 five-star reviews in between. This is just the beginning.

These are the five habits I use to wind down every night. The science behind it is simple - your brain learns the pattern. Do the same things in the same order and your nervous system starts to associate the routine with sleep, so by the time you’re horizontal you’re already halfway there. And while you’re out, your skin is doing its most important repair work of the day. Good sleep isn’t a nice to have. For your skin and your long-term health, it’s non-negotiable.

Save this and try it for a week.💫

Azelaic acid is the ingredient I prescribe alongside almost every retinoid. It’s also the ingredient I’ve been championing on social media for more than a decade.
Here’s why.

Retinoids are gold standard, but they can be hard to tolerate, especially early on. Irritation, redness, flaking. A lot of people give up before they see results.

Azelaic acid works differently. It’s anti-inflammatory, which means it actively calms the irritation a retinoid can cause. It also targets pigmentation, congestion, and redness through completely separate pathways - so you’re getting more done, with less friction.

The two don’t just coexist. They complement each other at a mechanistic level.

Safe in pregnancy. Suitable for sensitive skin. Works on all skin tones without the risk of rebound pigmentation you get with some other brighteners.

If you’re on a retinoid and not using azelaic acid alongside it, this is worth knowing about.
Save this for when you’re ready to add it in.

Pigmentation doesn’t happen in one step. So why do most brightening products only target one?

Melanin production is a cascade triggered by UV, blue light and inflammation, driven by enzymes, then transferred into skin cells where it becomes visible.

That’s why stubborn pigmentation keeps coming back.

Brightly Pro works across the whole process:
•  Upstream - reducing the signals that trigger overproduction
•  At the enzyme - blocking tyrosinase through multiple pathways
•  Downstream -  interrupting melanin transfer into skin cells

Effective brightening isn’t about one hero ingredient. It’s about targeting the whole cascade.

Save this as your pigmentation cheat sheet.

When it comes to treating pigmentation, technique is everything.

First I use my 13 Dots Technique™️ to distribute Flawless Brightly Pro evenly across the skin.

Then I use The Feather Technique™️ to blend it in - and this is what makes all the difference to your results.

Tag me if you try it. 🪶
