A message from our CEO, Martin Birch

In recognition of International Housekeeping Week, I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank the incredible members of our housekeeping team.

Every day, they demonstrate dedication, professionalism, resilience, and exceptional attention to detail. Their work is at the heart of the guest experience, creating clean, safe, and welcoming environments where people feel comfortable and cared for.

Housekeeping requires skill, teamwork, and genuine pride. Although much of their work happens behind the scenes, its impact can be seen and felt throughout every hotel we partner with. The high standards they uphold and the care they bring to their work are fundamental to our success.

WGC has been in business for over 50 years, and this would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of our teams, past and present. Their contribution is a powerful reflection of our values and what it means to be a people-first business.

This week provides an opportunity to reflect on everything they achieve and recognise the essential contribution they make every day.

Next week, we are proud to celebrate an incredible milestone, 16 years of dedication, growth, and achievement from John Raponi, our Regional Operations Director for the UK & Europe.

John’s journey reflects what is possible through commitment, resilience , passion and drive. Starting with us in one of our most important roles as a linen porter, his progression over the years is a powerful example of perseverance, development, and the opportunities that exist within WGC.

Throughout this time, John has played a key role in shaping strong teams, overcoming challenges, and fostering an environment built on pride, collaboration, excellence, and a people first approach.

His impact is reflected not only in results, but in the many individuals he has worked alongside and supported.
